Jay's Ways - Apology Is Jericho?
Submitted by Justin Watry on 01/14/2021 at 10:26 PM

Chris Jericho has revealed that a few months ago he tested positive for Covid-19.

On the latest edition of his Talk Is Jericho podcast, he revealed the details:

“It’s interesting because I hadn’t told anyone this, but I tested positive back in maybe September, and I had zero symptoms. I had one of the ones you said. I had my ten days in isolation and stayed away from everybody. I didn’t even know that I had it.”

He continued...

“I went and got a test just in general, and it’s one of those ones that said you’re positive. I went, ‘Really? You serious?’ And I had nothing. I didn’t have a headache. I didn’t have a cough, which is a very lucky thing, but on top of that, once I did have it, and it wasn’t a false positive because I took three different tests and they were all positive. But now, I have the antibodies.”

Looking at the AEW Dynamite results from September 2020, Chris Jericho was all over programming for the month. However, it should be noted that All Elite Wrestling sometimes will do a live, taped, live, taped schedule. Basically, that would allow him to have those ten days in between tapings that he is thinking of, assuming his timeline is correct. Remember he said “maybe in September.” If I tested positive for Covid-19, there would be no maybe. I would know the exact date and remember the moment. That is just me though.

On the whole, obviously, we wish him the best. It seems he got off lucky and didn’t experience any major symptoms or long lasting effects. The man was still on AEW Dynamite (on television at least) each week and hasn’t really missed a beat. That is the good news for him.

The bad news is this proves the danger is still out there. Maybe an apology from Jericho is due for all the comments and actions from the past 10 months? I hope we get a PSA like Drew McIntyre gave on WWE Raw Monday night. He told everybody to still be aware, social distance, wear a mask, etc. We have been waiting for that kind of message on professional wrestling TV since last March. It just took the current WWE Champion to test positive for Covid-19 before finally getting that message on our screens.

My HOPE is Jericho does something similar considering he has flaunted his anti-Covid-19 thoughts for much of 2020. Even a quick post on Twitter would be fine. He blocked me on there ages ago, so I wouldn’t see it but still! He was at Sturgis back in August, which drew heavy criticism. He has played multiple concerts with his band, Fozzy, just as recently as a few weeks ago – all the videos and pictures of people clearly bunched together without masks on. That doesn’t even count his conspiracy theory style Talk Is Jericho segments or even political donations. However, that can be debated one way or another, depending on your beliefs.

At the end of the day, Covid-19 isn’t going anywhere. It’s here, it’s been here, and it will continue to be here. Whether you are Chris Jericho who has basically mocked the virus since the beginning when he called it all “mass hysteria” back in March 2020 or even Mick Foley who was adamant about protecting each other, it takes no prisoners. Here’s to a happy and healthy 2021 to everyone!
