Wresstle Review: We're Here
Submitted by Andy Sullivan on 04/04/2020 at 12:26 PM

This is weird. These are the circumstances we are under. I never thought I'd see a WrestleMania with 0 fans in attendance in the performance center instead of thousands in an arena. I'm intrigued. When Drew McIntyre wins the WWE Championship or Braun Stroman (hopefully) wins the Universal Championship, how will it sound with no fans cheering the new champion? That's what I'm interested in.

That's right. I said Braun Stroman. He'll be getting the shot against Goldberg since Roman Reigns dropped out due to health concerns. What about the rest of the card? Let's get into it!

Otis and Dolph Ziggler will probably be a kickoff show match(if they have a kickoff show on either night) or the first match on the card. The beef is the age old "fighting over a woman" deal. The twist now is that this generation's GTV(any older fans remember that) caught Dolph Ziggler and Sonya Deville scheming to trick Mandy and Otis. I'm sure some cynical fan will spin this as "sure, make the lesbian out to be the ultimate heel". That was very Meltzer of me, wasn't it? I apologize. Dolph wins. Can you believe this is the first WrestleMania match for the former world champion?

Elias vs Baron Corbin...I'm glad Elias is actually on the WrestleMania card this year. I think Baron is winning if for no other reason than, well I don't know why

Street Profits defending the tag titles against NXT's Austin Theory and Angel Garza is another thrown together match. Seth is preoccupied with KO so I'm not thinking he'll cost SP the titles. I think they retain. Zelina might get involved but I don't see a title change.

Alexa scored a singles victory over Asuka to warrant the team I call Blissfull Crossing(or maybe Unhinged Goddesses) a tag title shot against Kabuki Warriors. I'd love a title change but I don't know. I do wonder what the feel will be when there is that first title change and no one to cheer it. Maybe I just want to see a Bliss kiss!

Aleister Black and Lashley was announced out of nowhere. There's no history. No fan would probably even care if there was any history told. Black doesn't exactly garner much of a huge reaction. And Bobby? Does he even move the needle anymore? Not for me. Black wins a bathroom break match.

Miz and Morrison/New Day/Uso's in a ladder match for the Smackdown tag team championships should be excellent! It's actually one of the matches I'm looking forward to. After their #1 contenders match was busted up by the champs, what was to be a one-on-one team match turned into a triple threat ladder match. These guys always bring it in ladder matches. I'm picking Miz and Morrison to retain.

Sami Zayn defending the Intercontinental Championship against Daniel Bryan is another match I'm anticipating. Sami has backup in Shin and Cesaro. Bryan has backup in Drew Gulak. I think Sami's crew gets involved and this one gets thrown out.

In another thrown together match, Bayley defends her title against Lacey Evans, Tamina(who hasn't been seen in months until last week), Naomi and Sasha. This really blows out 95% of the theories that had a Sasha vs Bayley title match idea. Maybe they were planning that story before this virus hit but here we are. Bayley retains somehow.

Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins finally face off one on one. I'd love for Owens to get the win here. I'm thinking he does. Rhea Ripley will lose the NXT Women's Championship to Charlotte Flair. Either way this match goes, it puts NXT in a bigger spotlight. If Rhea wins, she beat the almighty or whatever. If Charlotte wins, imagine the shine that puts on the NXT superstar who finally dethrones her. I say they give it to Charlotte.

AJ Styles and Undertaker will now have a "Boneyard Match". Maybe that's like a casket match? I don't know. At any rate, Styles is getting buried here. No way he beats Undertaker at WrestleMania, in my opinion.

Shayna Baszler beats Becky for the Raw women's title, right? Becky did win the title at last WrestleMania. It only makes sense she lose it on her one-year anniversary. Plus, I'm sure Cole or somebody has the line "Baszler's reign of terror" all lined up and ready to go.

The Fiend Bray Wyatt will probably continue his decent in the ranks with a loss to John Cena in a Firefly Funhouse match. Another match we don't know what we're getting, by the way. The last time Bray had a match where we said "what is that" it turned out pretty bad. Remember the match with Orton a few years ago? John wins.

Edge vs Randy Orton in a last man standing match is one of the main reasons I'm watching. In fact, I'm thinking that should main event one of the nights. I'm almost certain the world title matches will main event each night, though. As it should be. Edge should win and get his "ride off into the sunset" moment, if that's what this is going to be. If he continues, I still think he should win because of the revenge factor.

Goldberg was set to defend the Universal Championship against Roman Reigns. Now, due to totally understandable circumstances, Reigns dropped out and Braun Stroman has taken the spot. Stroman better get the championship. Braun has had a bunch of title shots and they won't give him the win. He should've beaten Lesnar a long time ago but here we are. I say he finally becomes Universal Champion this weekend but I'm not at all confident in that prediction because of the past.

WWE Champion Brock Lesnar defending against Drew McIny=tyre will probably close Sunday night. As mauch as they've built up Drew, having him lose would just be foolish. It's WrestleMania, even under different circumstances. Give us what we want! That is, at least for me, Drew McIntyre as WWE Champion.

There you have it: my predictions for the 2 day marathon WrestleMania. If this two day thing oes well, do you think they'd ever make the show a 2 day event permanently? I'd actually kinda dig it. Everybody have some fun! God knows we need a fun distraction in these times.
