The X-Factor: Royal Rumble 2020 predictions Submitted by Victor Mariscal on 01/26/2020 at 02:01 PM
To say that the Royal Rumble has been a roller coaster these last six years is putting it mildly. 2014 and 2015, you might remember those. 2016 was yet another groan-worthy example of Triple H having to cut people down for his own benefit. As for 2018, that was WWE keeping a fire from starting. As for 2019 which I was there for, they followed through.
And how did Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch’s wins work out?
Let’s get on with it.
Smackdown Women’s Championship
Lacey Evans vs. Bayley (C) Vinnie Mac involving someone’s family into an angle isn’t unheard of.
I’m just not feeling Bayley, both as a champ and a villain. Her fans loved her down at Full Sail, but maybe she just doesn’t have it. Lacey is still a bit green, and I don’t see her winning.
Winner: Bayley
Raw Women’s Championship
Asuka vs. Becky Lynch (C) To think, two years ago people hated to see Asuka’s undefeated streak end.
There’s some serious unfinished business between Becky and Ronda, and there’s also the matter of Asuka. Love her if you want, but do you wanna see Asuka vs. Ronda, or the match that Nia Jax took away from us?
Falls Count Anywhere
Roman Reigns vs. Baron Corbin Well gee, how will this go? Roode and Ziggler butt their noses in, and the Uso’s even the odds. After much back and forth, Roman nails the shock Spear to win, but the King in his usual way decides to keep raining on the parade. He deals a big time beating to Reigns to cast some serious doubt on his chances of winning the Rumble. Either it happens after their match or as Reigns enters the Rumble. It would be a Corbin thing to do.
Winner: Roman Reigns
Universal Championship
Daniel Bryan vs. Bray Wyatt (C) We all know who’s waiting, and The Fiend is just too good to lose right now. Bryan could keep him busy until Elimination Chamber, except how could they escape this without pissing off a very prickly fan base?
The Fiend wins, and then Daniel enters the Rumble ala The Man last year. Oh but wait, he doesn’t, and then people take to their iPads to whine. Bryan wins, then Roman takes the win later, the hate train starts up. What if Brock Lesnar wins?
Wyatt’s reinvention has turned a tepid career all the way around. D-Bry has yet to be broken, and we even got a welcome throwback along the way.
It just isn’t your time Bryan, sorry. Let’s see if Houston can understand.
Winner: Bray Wyatt
Women’s Royal Rumble What are they planning? Only seven women have been announced.
Playing it close to the chest, it’s either a smart move or not. NXT had their own Four Horsewomen, but from the MMA group, two of them have an axe to grind with Becky Lynch. It’s only a question of who’s getting the rub.
Ronda Rousey is the obvious choice. I’m not sure the women will end the show in Tampa. Rousey vs. Lynch was the match people wanted last year. There’s also Shayna Baszler who got attacked by The Man for winning at Survivor Series. Tough call.
Men’s Royal Rumble As if I had to tell you, the Elimination Chamber will decide the other #1 contender. It just happens to be in Philadelphia.
Brock Lesnar entering the match that’s supposed to decide his opponent was an inspired move. Like the women’s Rumble, they’re not leaving their cards on the table. Do people wanna see Cain Velasquez win the Rumble? I’m gonna say “maybe”. Not the smart fans.
It’s clear who’s gonna leave as the winner. I’d like to think that if it does happen, the hate won’t be quite as strong. Some people won’t have the stomach to jeer a man who beat cancer twice. Roman should win.
Reigns vs. Wyatt is the easy choice. A triple threat with Mr. YES Movement would add to it.
They have got to set up Drew McIntyre right. I could picture him taking the win, maybe have Brock drop the strap in Philly so his match with Velasquez isn’t for the title.
