Wrestle Review: Getting Stale

Who's Maria's baby daddy? I can't believe I just wrote that sentence. Haha! Why do I have a feeling this is leading to a Rusev vs Mike Kanelis paternity papers on a poll match at Hell In A Cell? Ha! And now I read that they're reportedly trying to get Maury Povich to do a paternity test reveal like he used to do on his old talk show. God help us!

The Revival beat New Day for the Smackdown tag titles Sunday. I honestly thought they'd help Randy win the WWE Championship. Kofi retained and will now defend against.....Brock Lesnar??!! If I went into why Lesnar gets a shot, we'd have to go into how The Fiend gets a Universal title match in his second or third match as that character. Oh well, gotta strike while the iron is hot. Side note: I don't understand the sudden "Kofi is boring" and the desire for Brock to be champion again. Y'all remember when Brock was Universal champ, right? You complained, as did I, that he's never around. What makes you think this will be any different?

NXT brought the big guns for their debut on USA this week. If you listen to some, they have a few weeks reprieve until AEW destroys them. I don't buy into that. Do I want to see AEW? Am I curious? Yes. Am I ready to crown them victors sight unseen? No. It's ok to enjoy things and not trash other things. I know, it's a crazy concept.

The Shane/KO thing has gone on way too long. I know it's only been a few months but remember, this started with Kevin Owens attacking Vince McMahon in 2017. Shane comes back, the Hell In A Cell match happens, fast forward two years later and I wouldn't be surprised if Owens and Shane have a Cell rematch. This feud is never ending. Never ending, that is, until the draft when Owens gets drafted to Raw(I predict). is reporting that WWE is considering Renae Young and three legends for the panel for the Smackdown SportsCenter-type show. There are rumblings from these guys that Paige, Edge, Christian and Booker T are being considered to join Renae on this show. They would be great choices in my opinion.

I've read the Impact results and, I'll be honest with you, they sound absurd. Su Young apparently gets hung but inexplicably comes back to life. They show a bachelor party for Brian Cage and bachelorette party for Melissa. Taya Valkrie took the opportunity to toast herself. Cage disappeared off camera to eat at his party. How is Impact still around? That is a question I sometimes ask myself. Weeks like this makes me wonder how they'll do on AXS next month. Sometimes they're good. Other times.....

I'll leave you with these tidbits: I saw the Dolph/Goldberg confrontation on Instagram. Are we really going to do this train wreck joke of a match again? Please, dear God, no!

I recently watched the 24/7 Sasha Banks episode on WWE Network. They do a great job on these in-depth introspective shows. Mercedes Justine Kaestner-Varnado, whether you like her Sasha character or not-has quite a story. I suggest you watch her 24/7 episode if you haven't.

Until next week, I bid you goodnight-or day, depending on when you're reading this.
