Wrestle Review: The Big Stage
Submitted by Andy Sullivan on 05/25/2019 at 01:46 AM

The day has finally come! AEW's first ppv event, Double or Nothing, is Saturday night. The event is headlined by Kenny Omega vs Chris Jericho. The winner faces the battle royal winner to determine the inaugural AEW Champion. Let's just cut to the chase. Chris Jericho is going to be the inaugural champ, right? I think whoever emerges from Jericho-Omega will beat whoever wins the battle royal to be the champion. Wouldn't it be funny if Shawn Spears(Tye Dillinger) won the battle royal? It'd be a bit of a shot to WWE(which is the direction AEW looks to be going) to have a former WWE jobber be a company's first world champion or at least in the title match.

As far as Cody taking a shot at WWE is concerned, both companies have taken shots at each other. Or have you forgotten DX's hall of fame speech? As much as people were making of it on twitter today, I wouldn't read much into Cody's shot that some thought was directed at Bayley but was really at WWE as a company.

WWE introduced the 24/7 championship Monday night. Mick Foley unveiled the title and Cody of course had to mention it. I actually think the Hardcore Championship 2019 is a pretty cool idea. Oh wait, they aren't calling it that. Let's be honest, that's what it is.

Dolph Ziggler returning Tuesday night was a shocker to me. He gets a WWE Championship match right off the bat at Super Showdown: Blood Money II(I added that last part) against Kofi. Surely Kofi isn't losing to Dolph. Shane beating Miz again at Money In The Bank was just stupid. As bad as that was, though, having Brock Lesnar come out as a surprise entrant and win the case was terribly stupid. Then again, Vince has blinders for his boy and would do anything for him. Now of course we will be treated to a time of "who will he cash in on"? I'm usually excited about a Money In The Bank winner becoming champion. This one? Not even a little bit.

Enjoy Double or Nothing if you're watching it. Enjoy Raw if you watch. Enjoy Smackdown if you watch. Enjoy Impact if you watch. Isn't it about enjoying wrestling. no matter the promotion?
