Jay's Ways - 2018 Match Of The Year
Submitted by Justin Watry on 01/20/2019 at 11:05 PM

These are the top five matches of 2018. Since I primarily only follow WWE, that will be the center of my year end awards...

WWE 2018 MOTY

5. Asuka vs. Charlotte at WrestleMania 34
4. Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte at Survivor Series
3. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte at Evolution
2. Women's Royal Rumble match

1. Ronda Rousey/Kurt Angle vs. Stephanie McMahon/Triple H at WrestleMania 34 - Impossible to narrow it down to only fice. There were so many matches on Raw this year that I thought were freakin' incredible. Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles did the heavy lifting for Smackdown LIVE, and the NXT television show even had a few hidden gems in 2018. As noted, it is impossible in this day and age where a new match gets five stars every week. For my money though, THE story of 2018 as the women. All the clowns that professed the movement was a farce are looking pretty foolish right now. They have officially arrived and have all but taken over the product. A WrestleMania main event is happening folks, and I actually thought it should have happened in 2018. That is due to Ronda Rousey debuting and stealing the show. Nobody would have complained if THAT bout headlined over Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar. Not only would it have ended the event on a high note, it also would have been a nice thing for Kurt Angle (one final main event at WM). Regardless, I knew that was my match  of the year the moment it happened, and nothing in the following months changed my mind. I loved it so much after WrestleMania 34, I even broke it down move by move. That is match of the year quality ladies and gentlemen...
