Wrestle Review: Your Move Old Man Submitted by Andy Sullivan on 10/12/2018 at 11:02 PM
As you all know by now, there is a groundswell for WWE to pull out of Saudi Arabia and the Crown Jewel event in light of recent events. Without getting political, I'm also of the opinion they shouldn't have this show. The problem with that? WWE has signed a 10 year contract with them. I would imagine voiding the contract would mean they'd be sued for breach, etc, etc....
I honestly don't know what they'll do with this event. I don't think they do, either. Thing is, we're 20 days out from show date. If they're going to work at all for a contingency plan, they need to work fast. WWE has already been promoting this heavily on Raw so they're probably worried about losing face. That isn't at all what they need to be worried about if they go through with this.
Some are raising the point that WWE are taking their singles matches for Evolution and turning them into one tag match. Personally, I think Trish and Lita vs Mickie and Alexa sounds pretty good. This does mean, however, that they're probably going to have to think of another match to put on the card. I do like the recant announcement of Shayna Bassler and Kairi Sane in a rematch for the NXT women's championship.
I won't go so far as to say I'm going to cancel my WWE Network subscription, as I'm aware that some have said they were going to do.
Bound For Glory is this Sunday. It's looking to be a very solid event. I wish Johnny Impact would become a World Champion finally. I don't think they'll do it but I wish they would. Their issues, though, will be beyond Sunday.
I read from 411mania.com that, starting October 25, Impact will move to the 10 pm timeslot. That is a VERY bad omen for that company. Also, the go-home episode last night didn't make the cable top 150. Impact officials reportedly learned just this week of the new timeslot, which starts October 25. I thought they were doing better. Oh well. We'll see how they progress in their new slot.
The coming weeks should be rather interesting. We'll see how this Crown Jewel mess plays out. WWE has to backtrack. Will they? It'd be a pretty unprecedented move for them. That said, imagine the repercussions if they don't.
