250 and Counting: Pittsburgh Wrestling Hits Milestone Submitted by Trapper Tom on 09/28/2018 at 09:26 AM
On Saturday, September, the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance (KSWA) in Pittsburgh hosts its 250th professional wrestling event at Spirit Hall.
The KSWA is the city of Pittsburgh's longest-running promotion (running continually since 2000) and is the Commonwealth's second-oldest brand. Only Quakertown's WWWA (which started in 1981) is older.
The KSWA is also in the midst of its busiest schedule since its inception. The group has 24 events scheduled for 2018 in Pittsburgh and surrounding communities.
In recent vintage, KSWA hosted the last independent professional wrestling appearances for Bruno Sammartino and George "The Animal" Steele.
This Saturday's event will feature a match for the Golden Triangle Championship as current titleholder "Double A" Anthony Alexander is set to defend against "The Face of Pittsburgh" Lou Martin. Bubba the Bulldog defends the 5-Star Championship against Yinza, the Pittsburgh Luchadore and the KSWA Tag Team Championships are on the line as Kris Kash and Shane Starr defend against Team 12 Gauge: Zak Hunter and Harley T. Morris.
