An Underhyped Rookie writing presentation - Extreme Rules 2018 thoughts and predictions!

Welcome to another post by me, Dylan (aka The Underhyped Rookie)! This weekend marks another edition of WWE Extreme Rules. Wait... "Extreme" means the PPV would have to be somewhat... EXTREME, right? You know, TABLES, LADDERS, CHAIRS, BLOOD (who are we kidding there) and all that? Yes? Well, you're sh*t out of luck this time around!

BUT... life goes on and I wanna give out my predictions for this Pay-per-view anyways, cause I am interested in parts of this event!

First match >>

Alexa Bliss (c) v Nia Jax for the Raw Women's Championship: Extreme Rules match

MY TAKE: This whole feud has been very hit and miss for me. On one hand, there were parts that were VERY well done, the other thing, I like both of these women. They're both talented and have bright futures. Alexa is, other than Charlotte, the top woman in WWE (yes, I didn't add Ronda Rousey, give her more time). Alexa has been portrayed as such for a few years now. Nia Jax has been booked very weirdly at times [tapping to Sasha Banks on RAW, but shhhh we're not supposed to remember that ;)] but on the other hand, she's gotten a lot better, both on the mic and in the ring. She's over for the most part, especially with women, of course, so there's still hope for her. But this whole addition to the feud this summer has been extremely boring and lackluster to me, which I don't want for these ladies. But, it's really just a blow over match until Rousey v Bliss happens at Summerslam (I'm assuming that happens). So I'm not really feeling this match, hopefully Ronda has some type of cool spot during or after this match though. This is an Extreme Rules match, but let's face it, it's more like a Kendo Stick match.

Prediction: Alexa Bliss (c)

Jeff Hardy (c) v Nakamura for the United States Championship:

MY TAKE: Very underwhelming feud for me. I'm glad Hardy brought back the face paint. That's the biggest plus for me in this feud. Nakamura needs to win the title here. Simple as that. I found his feud with Styles over the WWE Title to be very underwhelming as well. Does this feud continue into SUmmerslam? I have no idea. Hardy is due a rematch clause anyways. So I could see them duking it out again at the Slam.

Prediction: Shinsuke Nakamura

Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt (c) v The B-Team for the Raw Tag Team Championships:

MY TAKE: I don't really care. Sorry not sorry. I love Matt and Bray. Bo and Axel have been decently amusing impersonating Bray and Matt, but nah. Not into it. But... I think B-Team might actually win here. For some damn reason. I just have a hunch.

Prediction: The B-Team

Carmella (c) v Asuka for the SD Live Women's Championship:

MY TAKE: Meh, meh, meh. I like both ladies, but Asuka NEEDS this win more than anything right now. I say she's gonna win the title here and move onto possibly Becky Lynch or a rematch with Charlotte at Summerslam. Carmella will get her rematch on SD or something in the coming weeks.

Prediction: Asuka

Finn Balor v Baron Corbin

MY TAKE: I really don't care who wins here. I'm not invested into it. I doubt it goes further than this PPV. Balor wins it. Corbin doesn't need it.

Prediction: Finn Balor

The New Day v Sanity - Kickoff and Tables match:

MY TAKE: Once again... meh, meh, meh. I could see Sanity winning, maybe they should to really establish themselves on the main roster, buuuuut, I'm gonna have to go to New Day here. There should be some really fun table spots though and in general throughout this match, these two factions are known for that. New Day wins this one and Sanity might win the next one at Summerslam.

Prediction: The New Day

Braun Strowman v Kevin Owens - Steel Cage:

MY TAKE: Man. This match should be fun overall. Braun is known for his big spots and Owens is known for telling a great story in the ring. I'm looking forward to this match actually. I like both guys and I think they might possibly "steel" the show. Hehe. I'm going with Owens for the win. I think he'll escape the cage, that way Braun isn't pinned and looks strong.

Prediction: Kevin Owens

Bludgeon Brothers (c) v Team Hell No (Kane and Daniel Bryan) for the SD Live Tag Team Championships:

MY TAKE: I love both teams. I'm happy to see Kane and Bryan back together and they haven't lost it with their chemistry. Bludgeon Brothers have been on a role lately. I'm looking forward to this match overall. Bryan and Kane aren't losing this one. I say they gain the titles and have a nice little nostalgia run for a few weeks and drop the titles back to the Brothers, BROTHER.

Prediction: Team Hell No

AJ Styles v Rusev for the WWE Championship:

MY TAKE: Once again, I like both guys. I like Styles as champion. But his run has been a bit weak to me overall lately. I want Rusev to win this match and get his deserved moment. Even if the title reign isn't long, I will still be happy Rusev got the win and moment on Rusev Day. It would be even sweeter if the match went on last, like the WWE Title should anyways, but nonetheless. I've been saying it for weeks now, I think there's gonna be a BIG celebration on Rusev Day this time, Rusev wins the title here. Calling it. Happy Rusev Day! But I wouldn't be surprised if Styles retains, since he's on the cover of the game this year.

Prediction: Rusev

Bobby Lashley v Roman Reigns:

MY TAKE: I'm a Roman Reigns guy. Roman is winning here. I don't really see him losing again. He's the guy. He's the BIG DOG. He's Vince's boy. He's my boy. He's the haters' boy too. BUT, I will say, it would be kinda cool to see Lashley win and go onto face Lesnar at Summerslam one-on-one. BUT, nah, Reigns is winning and facing Lesnar and winning the title at the Slam.

Prediction: Roman Reigns

Last match >

Dolph Ziggler (c) (w/ Drew McIntyre) v Seth Rollins for the Intercontinental Championship: 30-Minute Iron Man Match

MY TAKE: Love all three guys involved with this match. I've been a Rollins guy and mark for YEARS now. Ziggler is at the top of his game right now as IC champion. The IC Title in general has been at the top of it's game, ever since Miz was racking up success and praise with it. This match will be nothing short of brilliant. These two can tell a fantastic story in that ring when they're together. Rollins has been the hottest IC champ in recent memory. He's been on an absolute roll. Some feel him losing the title to Ziggler was a waste of momentum. NO, it hasn't. It's elevated Rollins AND Ziggler at the same time. Rollins losing the title wasn't wasted at all. Ziggler needed something BIG to really reinvent himself, other than siding with the uber talented Scotsman McIntyre. Ziggler has been cutting great promos lately, he's been on fire with McIntyre by his side, he's looking as good as he ever has in his career. I'm so happy for him and he deserves every bit of it. In the long run, this will do wonders for McIntyre as well. I'm sure he'll turn on Ziggler soon and when that feud happens, I'm sure it will be over the IC title. I can see McIntyre winning a chance to face Rollins at Summerslam maybe, winning the title from Rollins and then facing Ziggler. Should be fun. There is ONE thing I should address for this match. Dean Ambrose. Will we see Ambrose FINALLY return this SUnday? Will he side with Rollins and fend off Ziggler and McIntyre? Or.. will he TURN on Rollins and cost him the match? OR... will Rollins win the title back and then Ambrose turns on him, causing a singles match between them at Summerslam? I don't know. I have a feeling he'll play a role this Sunday and yes, I say he returns on Sunday. Should be fun overall and it's an Iron Man match with arguably the two greatest work horses in the business today. In the words of Daniel Bryan, YES YES YES! I say Rollins wins here.

Prediction: Seth Rollins (Dean Ambrose returns)

Another kick off match - Andrade "Cien" Almas (w/ Zelina Vega) v Sin Cara

MY TAKE: The match they had on SmackDown Live last week was good, I'm alright with this, other than the fact it's on a preshow. But, you know, it involves Sin Cara. (don't @ me). It should be a fun little match!

Prediction: Andrade "Cien" Almas
