Wrestle Review: What I'd Like To Have Right Now... Submitted by Andy Sullivan on 06/16/2018 at 12:01 AM
Any wrestling fan worth their salt can finish that classic "Ravishing" Rick Rude line. Here's a few things out of this upcoming wrestling weekend that I'd like to have right now.
I'll begin with what I'd like to have out of WWE weekly programming. It's simple: I'd like to have consistently good shows. Yes, some segments are going to be clunkers. Not everything can be hot from start to finish. Sometimes, though, it seems as if Vince, Hunter and the fellas don't even try. Exhibit A: Bobby Lashley.
I harken back to Lashley's previous run in WWE. The guy was a beast. For what it's worth, he was the champion of WWE's watered-down version of ECW. Fast forward later and he went to TNA. He was unstoppable there. Now he comes back to WWE and he's in a "sister's" angle with Sami Zayn. Both of these guys are so much better than this. Sadly, WWE is not. Lashley has a match with Sami Zayn this Sunday. I'm embarrassed for both of them.
Daniel Bryan vs Big Cass. Why, God, why? There is absolutely no point in doing this again. It's a pee break match, folks. I love Bryan Danielson but they have totally crapped on his return. Since Bryan won last time, I guess Cass is winning Sunday. Oh, joy.
Seth Rollins will lose the Intercontinental title to Elias. I wouldn't be mad at it if Seth were getting a title shot at SummerSlam. He was but now I hear that Brock may not defend the title for several months. He may not defend anymore this year. So, that's great.
The illustrious Bobby Lashley-Sami Zayn match is, as I've said, a waste of both men's talents. I suppose a Sami win means that this feud will continue. The Bludgeon Brothers and The Good Brothers for the Smackdown tag titles is now the kickoff match. I suppose the Bludgeon's take the win once again.
Roman Reigns will beat Jinder Mahal I really don't know what they're doing with either guy. You give the impression that Roman is your guy for the next 10, 15 years. Then, after multiple matches with Mr. Part-timer, they have him lose. Genius, Vince. Genius. I'm picking Roman to win, for what it's worth.
Asuka should win the Smackdown women's championship. She won't but she should. Carmella has actually gotten better. At least better than she was. She's great at her character being annoying as well.
Ronda Rousey will win the Raw women's championship from Nia Jax. Ronda is Teflon for Raw. Also, a Ronda win likely means the women's title might become as scarce as the Universal title. That makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?
I'd love for them to give Becky the Money In The Bank contract. They won't. I'd also be cool with a Blissful win. Neither of those things will happen. I imagine they'll give the win to Sasha. They better make up for giving it to Carmella last year. Though I must say, she has improved. The equal of last year's Carmella win would be a Lana win. That'd be fine if they were going to have husband and wife win, Rusev isn't wining the men's case, though.
Back a month or so ago, when Owens and Stephanie were getting chummy, I figured Owens was going to win the men's match so they could recreate when they swerved Rollins and gave Owens the Universal title. I'm off that train of thought. Process of elimination: the New Day rep isn't winning. I can't see them ever getting Fin back in the title picture. They just don't think enough of Rusev to get him the win. No way Rood wins. That leaves Miz, Stroman and Joe.
I would be cool with any of those three winning. I want to see Stroman win. My head says Joe. They can't sell Miz vs Lesnar, in my opinion. Another reason a Raw guy can't win: when is he going to cash it in? Lesnar probably isn't scheduled for any other show this year. I suppose a Raw guy could cash in next WrestleMania. I'm sticking with Joe winning, though.
AJ Styes and Shinsuke Nakamura in a last man standing match for the WWE Championship should be good. These guys know each other well. They should. They battled in the Indies not to mention that this is their fifth WWE match against each other. Oh, I forgot about their match on Smackdown to pick this stipulation. Shin won that match and picked Last Man Standing. I'm picking AJ to win this and close the book on this one-sided rivalry.
Is Impact transitioning from Sami Calahan vs Eddie Edwards to Eddie Edwards vs Tommy Dreamer? It sure seems that way. And what about Sami joining Eddie? That's right. I'm thinking that could be an interesting way to go. I like Moose/A Double for the Impact Championship. It's fresh and different. Those guys up north might ought to think about that. Katarina Waters....I think I'm in love. I know she was in WWE previously but, such is the case with a lot of talent, Impact is using her better.
What happens this weekend at Money In The Bank and what happens next week in the crazy world of wrestling is anyone's guess. Sit back and enjoy!
