Wrestle Review: Who's Money? Submitted by Andy Sullivan on 05/25/2018 at 11:22 PM
When I think "worst segment in WWE history", a few things come to mind. "Bayley, this is your life" being chief among them. This past Monday, however, "This is your life" was left in the dust about 50 miles behind in a not-so-creative vehicle involving Sami Zayn and Bobby Lashley's "sisters". Granted, I didn't watch the segment. As soon as it was announced last Monday, I knew it had cringe written all over it. I turned the channel. I don't believe I was alone.
Who is the creative force(if you want to call it creativity) behind these stupid segments? Road Dogg oversees Smackdown stories so it can't be him. The most troubling thing is that Vince McMahon himself had to have signed off on this. I'd love if they left this behind, as they surely had to have read what a disaster this segment was. Thing is, I don't think they care. I'm sorry to say I don't even care about Bobby Lashley. Didn't really care when he was in TNA.
We got the announcement of Jinder Mahal vs Roman Reins at Money In The Bank. The MITB matches themselves are my favorites. As I've mentioned before, it has quickly become one of my top favorite WWE events in the calendar year. We got the contract signing of Ronda Rousey and Nia Jax for the Raw women's championship. Too bad Nia is losing the title this soon after she won it. I could tell you what I think is going to happen in that match. I'll save it for the predictions column, though.
I'm really enjoying the B Team, Axel and Dallas. They've low-key become the fans' favorite part of Raw. If the WWE brass don't give these guys a push, a title run, they're pretty tone deaf, which they've proven over and over that they are. What is the deal with Bobby Roode? On Smackdown, he was a strong U.S. Champion. On Raw, well... As far as his opponent Monday, Elias, if he isn't a surprise Money In The Bank winner, he should at least get in the IC picture. Eh, he's the type that don't need a title to be popular. His popularity is through the roof! Imagine if he and the Rock ever did something.... Stroman and Fin was a good one. Who cares that it was obvious Braun was going to win. It was a fun one.
I was really surprised the Good Brothers went over on Tuesday. Too bad that was just a "Well, the Bludgeon Brothers have to beat somebody" match.
Hey, did you think it was pretty bad last year when Carmella won the first women's MITB match? Just wait... Lana could win it this year. That'll make fans happy! In the main event, Daniel Bryan beat Jeff Hardy in a match to see who gets to lose to Samoa Joe next week. At least they didn't say "first time ever" when it's clearly happened before in another organization. They seem to have gotten a little better at that.
I've not watched Impact yet so I can't really give an honest opinion on it. I can reiterate that I really have been enjoying their product lately. Something different is good.
That's my take for the week. As far as next week: I have absolutely no idea what's going to happen. And that, my friends, is part of the fun!
