The X-Factor: The wrong kind of Backlash Submitted by Victor Mariscal on 05/07/2018 at 04:09 PM
So, yeah. That just happened.
I’ve seen video proving that fans were actually leaving during the main event. Of course the haters are going to blame Roman Reigns, because of course they will. He’s never gonna stop being the source of everything wrong with the business.
In all fairness, the fact that people left isn’t so much an indictment on Joe vs. Reigns, but the event itself.
The manner in which she beat Charlotte did a great job of building up heel heat for her, but there’s no getting around it. Carmella is not champion material. Hell, they insulted Charlotte by sticking them together. She was Enzo & Cass’ valet in NXT. She should’ve stuck to that role when she got the call. Plus it’s not doing Asuka any favors.
Really wish Bayley would create a big scene backstage and just walk out. If they’re not gonna book her right she should either go back to Full Sail or join Emma in ROH.
Another thing killed it for me: my internet connection. I couldn’t start watching until 5:51PM. My stupid router crapped out on me. Gonna have to replace it.
The argument could be made they’re doing Shinsuke a favor with the two straight no-contests. The knee-jerk reaction would be to call bullshit, but if they’d gone a different route, Nakamura would’ve been pinned in Jeddah and Newark. There’s nothing wrong with AJ Styles continuing to hold the WWE title especially with the money he’s drawing right now.
Nobody really wants a non-finish. Let that troupe go.
The finish is the reason why it didn’t close the show. In hindsight, it should have.
I loved the opening match. No question.
If you can put aside your disdain for a moment, you need to be honest with yourselves. He can put on a great match. His promo skills aren’t the problem. It’s a lack of good material. It’s not a question of whether he can get over. He already has. The events of December 2015 proved that. Reigns just can’t stay there.
There’s also the need for a heel turn, but as long as his merch is selling as it is, as long as Vince McMahon is incredibly pigheaded, don’t hold your breath.
I just don’t know what to think. I’m not gonna stop watching because that’s not me. Money In The Bank ’18 is in six weeks, and it’s in Chicago. They’re part of what I call “The Trinity of hostile crowds”. You might remember the last time MITB was in Chicago.
John Cena vs. CM Punk was a perfectly executed main event. It turned out so damn amazing because they let Punk say what was on his mind 20 days prior. If it were me, I would give Roman a mic and let him cut loose. That could save him.
It’s a pipe dream, but one day Paul Heyman should interrupt a creative meeting and say this: “You want your boy to get cheered? You need to try it my way now.”
Vince, you had better get your damn head together or you’re screwed.
