The X-Factor: The road to New Orleans Submitted by Victor Mariscal on 02/12/2018 at 10:27 PM
Seems like good things have been happening in Philly lately! The Eagles have finally got their own custom WWE Championship! That other trophy’s nice too. Congrats Eagles!
For once, the Road to WrestleMania hasn’t been plagued with angry comments about the wrong guy winning.
The last few years, a war has been waged between the wants and needs of WWE vs. the vociferous demands of the IWC. This year, WWE well and truly gave in to those demands when Shinsuke Nakamuka and Asuka left Philadelphia with a one-way ticket to New Orleans.
Make no mistake. This wasn’t Vince finally “seeing the light”. He was throwing you all a bone.
So far, the card for WrestleMania 34 looks promising on the strength of Nakamura, Asuka, and Ronda Rousey’s matches alone. There’s also Reigns vs. Lesnar II, which will likely be a great match that hopefully doesn’t get shortened or interrupted in some way. I want some closure.
Can you people stop with the fantasy booking? Reigns is gonna face Brock Lesnar in the Superdome. You haters swear he’s a cancer on this business.
Besides, Braun Strowman and Brock have bad chemistry in the ring. Except for a potential angle with Bobby Lashley, the Beast could very well be done this year. Might as well have him drop the red strap.
Forget your dream cards. What they give us could also be amazing. It could be a lousy ‘Mania, but it might not. Let’s be a little optimistic.
No Tag Team Title matches have been rumored. It’s possible a ladder match will be one of them. Nothing on the US title or Samoa Joe having a match. Will he even be cleared in time?
There’s another factor here. With the XFL coming back, Vince is handing over more power to Triple H. How much will actually change in the long run is the question.
The hardcore fans look at Triple H through rose-colored glasses. I don’t doubt the good work he’s done with NXT, but I’m frankly more worried about the potential negative consequences. Don’t forget the bad that came with him over the years. Some of us haven’t forgiven him for the “Reign of terror”.
There’s one big question mark looming over ‘Mania.
