Jay's Ways - WWE Money, Road to WM34, MORE Submitted by Justin Watry on 02/11/2018 at 09:20 PM
“I have been reading your stuff on 411mania and nodq.com for the longest time now and I have never felt inclined to email in. The general consensus of you not being most popular is harsh at times but also can be well-founded too. But I still read your stuff because I do enjoy your articles and find your perspective interesting most of the time.
That said, your article about your friend Megan and trip to Wrestlemania was the greatest thing you have ever wrote. Forget about the predictions you brag about getting right. This is your crowning piece. Maybe it is because I can relate as going to Wrestlemania is my ultimate dream and it will be happening next year. But I genuinely loved your article.
Thank you for the great stuff.”

NFL Super Bowl
Wow. A week removed. It still doesn't fell real to say the Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl Champions. I mean, they clearly earned the right to be called number one all seasons. No luck involved at all...yet, it just felt like everybody knew Tom Brady was going to lead the New England Patriots to one last drive in the fourth quarter to claim yet another title.
That never happened. A stunning fumble and a last second FAIL mary attempt sealed the deal.
My older sister may not like me saying this, but the Halftime Show was disappointing. I thought Justin Timberlake was capable of more. Prince is my favorite, so that won me over but only a little. Kinda blah performance. Same with the commercials. Eh. Whatever, another NFL season in the books and the countdown continues for the return of XFL!
Big Brother Celebrity
Yes, I applied. Yes, I was turned down.
Oh well, this is a shortened "celebrity edition" of Big Brother airing on CBS currently. Obviously, it is a tad bit different than a normal cast of unknowns. We knew that going in. So far, I am fine with it. Numbers are down like 40% within the span of three episodes, so that is terrible news...but if you believe the rumor that CBS just wanted to counter NBC and the Olympics with a popular show for two weeks and nothing else, you can see the end game. A rushed, half hearted 'big name' program designed to draw viewers away from all the sporting games.
To their credit, it has worked. Kinda. If you are wondering about my prediction, I had Shannon Elizabeth as my odds on favorite even before the first episode aired. I knew she played poker and was in a couple of very funny movies, so I was biased right off the bat. Plus, the girl knows the game and is smart. After seeing the first couple of episodes, my pick stands. Shannon knows exactly what she is doing. If the girl can stay under the radar for the next few episodes, the finale is hers. Tough though because she came out SO strong.
Another quarter. Another profit posted. For every naysayer than wants to point out that 2017's record revenue numbers don't mean anything because it is revenue and not profit, um yeah, they also posted profits throughout the year too. Try again fools. WWE keeps making money and while I believe their $2.6 billion stock price is overvalued in February 2018, the fact of the matter is the shareholders are who matters. They are all in on the company and are primed for the next big television deal. Even with ratings down, my guess is one network out there sees the value in them and will throw a whole ton of cash at them. The viewership numbers compared to basically everything else on cable across 52 weeks says it all. Not much, if anything, gets close. WWE will keep making money (profit and revenue) and may have an even better 2018 than 2016 and 2017, which were both record breaking years ...
FastLane Main Event
Yep! I predicted a BS finish to Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens to set up a triple threat bout against WWE Champion AJ Styles and sure enough, that is what we got. More to this silly story line that probably should have ended at the Royal Rumble.
What made it all even worse was WWE adding a fourth competitor. The winner of Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler this week on Smackdown LIVE also gets added. Oh gosh. Talk about throwing stuff at the wall. I know the company is just trying to waste time until the Shinsuke Nakamura/WrestleMania 34, but this is ridiculous. Just give us AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton at FastLane instead. A fairly fresh face vs. face match that can headline and steal the show all in one. I'd rather do that than THIS!?!?!
Elimination Chamber LeadUp
Ditto for the Raw brand as well. I am not feeling much of this build at all. I have no doubts the pay-per-view will deliver and be a fine event on the WWE Network. It will be. Just the hype and hoopla isn't there. I want to feel excited for the show. I want to be pumped up on the Road to WrestleMania. Give us SOMETHING! Promote Ronda Rousey will be there or a legendary tease of a certain DeadMan...I don't know.
Don't worry. I am not all negative today.
The good news (actually great news) is that I LOVE the proposed WrestleMania 34 card right now. You can see where WWE is headed for a lot of top talent, and it looks splendid. Not many complaints right now for what we will be given come April 8th in New Orleans. I write a big column on the entire Mania card for 411mania.com - that should be posted in the next day or two. I break it all down, so if you are wondering why I am jacked up for the event, head on over there.
