Wrestle Review: Into The Looking Glass Submitted by Andy Sullivan on 01/05/2018 at 09:45 PM
Happy New Year! Several big things are on the horizon in wrestling. WrestleKindom 12 was just unleashed upon us. Actually, I won't be able to watch until AXSTV airs it. Raw 25 is coming up. 25 years of Raw....WOW! I remember watching the very first episode. I was so excited leading up to the show. A one hour live show? Who does that? Of course, an hour of live wrestling is nothing.
I really don't know who to expect. As flimsy as WWE's relationship is with a lot of their former talent, there are a lot who fans would love to see but won't be their because of the hard-headed up north. Below are a few things I'd like to see. They won't happen but they'd create major buzz if they did.
John Cena comes to the ring that night and announces his retirement from wrestling. He says his last two matches will be Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. He goes onto win the Royal Rumble on his way to capturing his record-breaking 17th WWE championship. He pulls a Dolph and surrenders the championship. A tournament ensues to crown a new champion.
Trish Stratus and Lita announce their entrance into the first-ever women's Royal Rumble match and do some damage after said announcement.
Monday night was huge for fans of The Club, myself included. Fin Balor needed two partners to battle the Miztourage and he chose Gallows and Anderson. I really hope they keep the Club together. They're so over, why wouldn't they? My one question is, who would they feud with?
Would WWE reform the Wyatt's? Doubtful, since Bray is in something with "Woken" Matt Hardy. Added to that, Rowan and Harper are doing the Bludgeon Brothers thing on SmackDown. Will that last? I honestly don't know. My personal opinion? WWE screwed the pooch with Luke Harper. He was so over just last year. He could've been WWE champion. Now? He and his fellow former Wyatt guy, well they're running through some teams on SDL but it's almost like facing jobbers. When will they put them against, say, the Uso's?
How about the Club vs Miztourage? Balor and Miz feuded last year so there's some built-in animosity. And Miz is returning Monday. Word is he may stick his nose in and cause Reigns the I-C title to Joe. Miz wants the title back so a triple threat is made, maybe for the Rumble. Maybe Fin is added to make it a four-way. I'm just guessing, probably poorly.
There were a few interesting tidbits on Impact this week. In the main event, James Storm lost a match where, had he lost, he'd leave Impact Wrestling. I'm not sure but I think he has re-signed with WWE. My immediate thought: imagine Beer Money as a team in WWE! That'd be awesome! Of course, first, Bobby Roode will(hopefully) win the vacant U.S. title. Although, I think the new champ will be Jinder Mahal. You know, the tried and true "foreigner as U.S. Champ" angle.
That's all for this week. Catch you later and enjoy wrestling!
