The X-Factor: Survivor Series 2017 preview Submitted by Victor Mariscal on 11/19/2017 at 01:34 AM
The build-up began. The matches were made. The entire Raw roster fell #UnderSiege. The inter-brand feud started just because that was the thing last year.
People were left scratching their heads, groaning, and some were outright mad. No one in their right mind – except the people of India – wanted to see Jinder Mahal vs. Brock Lesnar, much less the former actually winning.
Then there were the other matches that didn’t make any more sense. With that, it’s time for my predictions.
Charlotte Flair (SD Women’s Champion) vs. Alexa Bliss (Raw Women’s Champion) I didn’t want to see Natalya vs. Alexa Bliss. Who did?
Charlotte’s father came close to dying recently. Plus there’s his 30 for 30. I saw it. It was good. Nobody really wants to boo her right now. Besides that, those two are headed into Houston without much build-up. Do they have something else planned?
That feel-good moment on the 11/14 Smackdown opens up the possibility of Carmella finally pulling the trigger. She gained a ton of heat for the method in which she won the briefcase. Imagine robbing Charlotte of that title so close after that emotional moment with her dad.
Would they go that far with Starrcade around the corner? Who knows.
Winner: Charlotte Flair
Baron Corbin (US Champion) vs. The Miz (Intercontinental Champion) John Cena is a workhorse of the highest magnitude. The problem is he can’t ever win a match without someone whining about it. Did it ever occur to you all that maybe Corbin just isn’t cut out for the main event?
Their verbal sparring on social media has drummed up some interest. The Miz will be the de-facto good guy since he’s more entertaining. Corbin was a case of “too much too soon”. Sorry Wolfie.
Winner: The Miz
Kalisto vs. Enzo Amore (C) Enzo’s name comes up and it’s a guarantee Corey Graves will say something against him.
I’m trying, but it’s hard to be invested. You should give them credit for turning real-life heat into something tangible. Has Enzo seen the error of his ways? Hope so. He does sell merch and he’s great on the mic. PLEASE put him in the ring with The Rock!
Winner: Enzo Amore
The Usos (SD Tag Champs) vs. The Bar (Raw Tag Champs) What a journey these two teams had. The Usos stagnated as babyfaces so they turned. Their feud with The New Day went over so damn well they turned back. It’s criminal that they have never made it past the WrestleMania pre-show. Here I thought Vince gave good treatment to The Rock’s family.
Sheamus and Cesaro were bitter enemies. Mick Foley stuck them together. They won the tag titles when Cesaro used a strategy known as a feint to end New Day’s record-setting – if not vindictive – Tag title reign. They would get along, only to turn heel and feud with the Hardys.
The Tag Team scene has been for the most part, extraordinary. This match will be no exception.
Winners: The Usos
Women’s Survivor Series match
Team Raw (Sasha Banks, Bayley, Nia Jax, Asuka, and Alicia Fox) vs. Team Smackdown (Becky Lynch, Carmella, Naomi, Tamina and Natalya) Think they will throw a swerve and have Paige replace somebody after all? It could be that they’re throwing us off given that news of her presence backstage leaked out.
Sometimes I miss the days before phones had cameras.
A member of Team Raw gets jumped backstage just because. Maybe Alicia gets voted off the team and Paige takes her place. Nikki Bella could feasibly show up as a surprise entrant on the blue side.
There’s something we’re overlooking. Carmella could cash-in and rob Charlotte of her title. She decides to ditch her team. It’s fitting for her to do so.
I can see Team Raw getting this one. Asuka will either be the last one standing eliminating 3 or 4 women on her way to victory. You know, assuming Vinnie doesn’t mess up her career too.
Winner: Team Raw
The Shield vs. The New Day Their first PPV match in over three years, you don’t seriously expect they’ll lose, do you?
The New Day are not some mere comedy act. Along with the Shield they are one of the greatest success stories in recent history. Kofi and Seth are both the fast and acrobatic ones. Reigns and Big E are the powerhouses. Woods and Ambrose aren’t really like each other so, yeah.
This will last about 15-20 minutes before the Hounds of Justice take the victory. The last hot tag will be Reigns, there will be a few minutes of near falls before a Spear takes out one of his opponents.
Winner: The Shield
Men’s Survivor Series match
Team Raw (Kurt Angle, Finn Balor, Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe and Triple H) vs. Team Smackdown (Shane McMahon, Randy Orton, Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura and John Cena) I can see the reasons why – good and bad – Triple H replaced Jason Jordan. Are they building towards Angle vs. Triple H? A battle of in-laws between Hunter and Shane?
I would be the happiest fan alive if Shane defeated Triple H. I’m also wary that The Game will – AGAIN – break the shovel. Wouldn’t be the first time he did it to Angle.
If they’re going for the Attitude Era finish, Owens and Zayn will cost Team SD big. They would cut a big promo the following Tuesday whining that they were left off and lead to an angle involving Shane and someone else in the match.
There’s this nagging feeling. KO and Shane-O-Mac are at odds. Owens goaded Shane into a fight and headbutted Vince. Triple H practically gave the Universal title to KO last year and now he and Stephanie are back. Is it all connected?
BTW, how are they gonna work John Cena into this? He’s there for the star power alone. He’s a wild card.
Would Triple H do the right thing for once in his life? He could use this to put Balor or Nakamura over. Will he?
Winner: Team Smackdown
Brock Lesnar (Universal Champion) vs. AJ Styles (WWE Champion) Make no mistake. We all know how this will play out.
I think back to those times I tried to beat the final bosses in Mortal Kombat. Trying to beat Motaro and Shao Kahn in MK3 made me wanna throw the controller in abject fury. That’s what it’s like to see anybody face Brock Lesnar.
AJ is gonna lose, but he’s not gonna look like some chump when it’s all over. It will be the fight of his life. Styles will take 10 or so suplexes and then mount the comeback of a lifetime before falling to the Beast.
Winner: Brock Lesnar
Well, that’s it. Not the most well-booked Survivor Series but I’m looking forward to it.
