Jay's Ways - No Mercy, WWE STARRCADE, & More! Submitted by Justin Watry on 09/19/2017 at 02:00 PM
"I have been reading your stuff on 411mania and nodq.com for the longest time now and I have never felt inclined to email in. The general consensus of you not being most popular is harsh at times but also can be well-founded too. But I still read your stuff because I do enjoy your articles and find your perspective interesting most of the time.

That said, your article about your friend Megan and trip to Wrestlemnaia was the greatest thing you have ever wrote. Forget about the predictions you brag about getting right. This is your crowning piece. Maybe it is because I can relate as going to Wrestlemania is my ultimate dream and it will be happening next year. But I genuinely loved your article.
Thank you for the great stuff."

My new 411mania.com column has yet to be posted, but it is sure to be a good one. I compare Roman Reigns to Kevin Owens. Yes, you read that right - those two are much more alike in WWE than you may think. A silly premise on the surface until the facts are laid out. I strongly suggest reading 411mania.com in the next day or two for this exclusive column from yours truly.
Truthfully, I didn't care much for WWE RAW last night. Without John Cena and Brock Lesnar scheduled to be live in the arena, you had to suspect things would cool off a bit. Cena was in China for a live event, and Lesnar appeared via video, due to his part-time status. No issues with that at all. Both will be at No Mercy, and that is what's important. The pay-per-view on Sunday is sure to be very entertaining with two massive main events.
Two things that I wrote about last week on 411mania.com that I will quickly repeat here:
1. WWE is smart to be taking advantage of John Cena NOW! I've stressed this a few times on Twitter. Ladies and genetlemen, who knows how much longer he is going to be wrestling? Part-time or full-time. You best believe the company is wise to use his time wisely. Jinder Mahal, Shinsuke Nakamura, Braun Strowman...and now Roman Reigns. Oh, and if you believe certain sources, a bout with The Undertaker may *finally* happen as well. Yeah, when Cena is around, he BETTER be in high profile matches. You don't know what you have until it's gone. Appreciate Cena now.
2. The WWE Network means the company must care about all 12 months of the year, NOT just the usual January-April stuff for WrestleMania season. We saw The Undertaker return for the summer and Fall in 2015. We got Brock Lesnar/Samoa Joe for a random July pay-per-view. Bill Goldberg made his big comeback to WWE for a bout in November! The Shield have their first triple threat match in 2016 on a show called Battleground. The days of saving EVERYTHING for WM is long gone. I welcome the fact that No Mercy is loaded. Don't be shocked to see this trend continue. The WWE Network has to keep those numbers up for the entire calendar. We know business will go up come Mania regardless, right? Right...so spread the love and make other shows important too.
Whether 72 or 73 years old, it doesn't matter - Bobby Heenan was one of the greats and absolutely deserved the nice tribute he got Monday night on Raw. While he was in his prime well before my age, I can still love his work and know that he delivered many, many, many times. Lots of people were posting emotional/fun videos of him yesterday. For me personally, I only watched one on Youtube.
It was just 43 seconds long but was worth a thousand words...or tears. Be sure to have a tissue handy before watching.
Okay, WWE is hosting a Starrcade event in November. Set for North Carolina, the Hardyz are going to appear, as are legends. To honor the STARRCADE name, it only makes sense to do something like that for Thanksgiving weekend. At last check, WWE owns the [ay-per-view name and have indeed used NWA/WCW terms in the past, so this is actually nothing new or that shocking.
My suggestion is the same as I saw on Twitter (from Goldust I believe). I doubt it happens but for the sake of legacy and ticket sales, it would work: I say the Hardy Boyz vs. Goldust and Cody Rhodes. We already saw the name Dustin Rhodes used on Raw last night, so maybe that is a teaser? It may take a bit to bring back Cody (for one night), but it may be worth it to him for his father Dusty Rhodes. Maybe not. Who knows? The guy is far too talented to be in Ring of Honor or on random independent shows every other weekend. He didn't get a fair shake as Stardust; we all know that. Returning as Cody Rhodes and actually getting a chance to shine would be a nice boost before WM seasons kicks into high gear. Just my two cents on the Rhodes controversy.
Other thought: I would build the show around Charlotte, obviously with her Flair connection. If Ric is healthy enough to be there live in the arena, invite him. Or Sting. He would probably do it. Charlotte inside a steel cage going for the Smackdown LIVE Women's Title would be a cool hook for a WWE Network live special. As it stands though, this is just your basic non-televised show on a Saturday.
Hopefully, that changes soon and WWE makes this a memorable STARRCADE event for those in attendance and those watching live at home. With the Rhodes family, Flairs, and a steel cage...
The return of NRW is officially over 1,500 views online. Months ago, when this all began, my target was hitting one thousand. After barely a week, we have already crossed that mark. Pleased with the result obviously but mildly disappointed because many did say they would post/share it and haven't. Those with a much larger reach did not hold up their end of the bargain unfortunately. Kinda sucks they backed out but still, positive thoughts baby! I hit the 1,000 view target I set out for myself, and that is what is most important. The match is posted below. Well worth the 15 minutes!
I went to Orlando, Florida for my first ever WrestleMania earlier in the year. I participated in the return of NRW a few weeks ago. Next up for my epic 2017:
