Jay's Ways - JBL, Brock, Hardys, & MORE! Submitted by Justin Watry on 09/02/2017 at 03:36 PM
"I have been reading your stuff on 411mania and nodq.com for the longest time now and I have never felt inclined to email in. The general consensus of you not being most popular is harsh at times but also can be well-founded too. But I still read your stuff because I do enjoy your articles and find your perspective interesting most of the time.

That said, your article about your friend Megan and trip to Wrestlemnaia was the greatest thing you have ever wrote. Forget about the predictions you brag about getting right. This is your crowning piece. Maybe it is because I can relate as going to Wrestlemania is my ultimate dream and it will be happening next year. But I genuinely loved your article.
Thank you for the great stuff."

Lots of goodness over on 411mania right from yours truly. Multiple columns last week and more being posted soon, including my monthly reader feedback edition, as well as me previewing the entire Mae Young Classic spoiler free. No offseason in professional wrestling. Exclusive content you will not read anywhere else can be found on 411.
John Cena/Roman Reigns
The big talking point of the week was from Monday's RAW. John Cena and Roman Reigns made it official: No Mercy will host their first ever one on one match. Along the way came one of those lovely 'shoot' promos where the fourth wall is supposedly broken and all the so called SMART fans buy into it. I have a ton of thoughts on this all and will write about it...next week on 411mania!
Yep, a teaser.
On that note, I have to give quick props to Brock Lesnar one his five second promo from RAW when addressing his upcoming Universal Title match against Braun Strowman.
It was brilliant. Such perfect timing, perfect facial expressions (from Paul Heyman too), and the perfect deliver from the perfect champion.
I don't care if you are Sami Zayn, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, or the biggest internet darling of them all AJ Styles - NOBODY has the aura Brock Lesnar has. Nobody. When one little sentence and his presence on television, he had made No Mercy feel like WrestleMania. Nobody gets anywhere close to matching that intensity. Part-time or full-time - WHO CARES? Brock Lesnar is the Beast and gets paid millions for a reason folks.
Yeah, JBL is stepping down from his weekly duties with Smackdown LIVE. That is true. He isn't going to Raw or NXT. He has other things on his plate, and this move has been in the works for awhile. When I repeatedly said on my Twitter account that there was more to come on the big Mauro Ranallo story from months ago, one domino fell when Mr. Mama Mia went to NXT. The other was this. Good luck to JBL and his charitable efforts.
I think everyone can move on now.
Pleasent surprise that Jeff Hardy won a battle royal to challenge for The Miz's IC Title next week. Another loaded show on FREE television with Big Show vs. Braun Strowman inside a steel cage as well. The NFL/Fall season is fast approaching. No wonder the company wants to hook viewers now.
Back to Jeff, I assume this is just a one off and NOT an official solo run. At the same time, we all know that time will come. Sorry Matt Hardy, but there is a reason why you are so stuck up on getting the BROKEN gimmick...because you need it. Jeff Hardy doesn't need anything. He is Jeff Hardy and has always been the more popular/marketable brother. Harsh to say but the truth.
Happy for Jeff. There is loads of money to be made with him returning to a single act and in the main event scene. I know I harp on this a lot, but if you were not watching WWE in late 2008 through August 2009, let me tell you all something. Jeff Hardy was THE man. He was right up there with The Undertaker, DX (Triple H and Shawn Michaels), Batista, John Cena, and others.
He headlined pay-per-view events over them all. Jeff Hardy was on FIRE! Make no mistake, this wasn't like Jack Swagger as World Champion or Jinder Mahal carrying around the WWE Title. Jeff Hardy was side by side with the hottest stars in the industry. Match quality, feuds, screen time, PPV spots, crowd reactions, merchandise sales, etc. A shame he left when his contract expired.
If WWE wants to try and recapture that magic, I am all for it. In the meantime, he is facing The Miz for the IC Title on Monday and then probably goes back to teaming with Matt. Not bad but definitely could be doing way more. On his own.
No, he didn't lose the Money in the Bank briefcase due to his Twitter banter. Stop it. Also, no - he didn't lose his MITB briefcase because of interacting with Dave Meltzer. Seriously, stop it. We are apparently the SMART fans remember?
There is a story to his recent string of losses. Not sure it has gotten out yet, but it certainly has not done him any favors. Hope he bounces back.
The return of NRW is officially over 1,500 views online. Months ago, when this all began, my target was hitting one thousand. After barely a week, we have already crossed that mark. Pleased with the result obviously but mildly disappointed because many did say they would post/share it and haven't. Those with a much larger reach did not hold up their end of the bargain unfortunately. Kinda sucks they backed out but still, positive thoughts baby! I hit the 1,000 view target I set out for myself, and that is what is most important. The match is posted below. Well worth the 15 minutes!
I went to Orlando, Florida for my first ever WrestleMania earlier in the year. I participated in the return of NRW a few weeks ago. Next up for my epic 2017:
