The X-Factor: SummerSlam '17 fallout

The first thing I wanna say is this: thank you Cesaro! If Brooklyn fans wanna play with a beach ball then do it at the beach! The passionate Philadelphia and Chicago crowds never react the way Vinnie Mac wants them too – who does these days – but they’re respectful compared to Brooklyn. Seriously, if they keep this up, next year will be the last time they get the full four days.

Sadly, while the event delivered on many levels, it still floundered on others. The arena was just about empty for their six-man tag and that was WWE’s fault for advertising the arrival time at 6:30PM. Really?

I’m finding it hard to believe that disrespecting Dave Meltzer was the key reason why Baron Corbin was shuffled down the card. I wasn’t sold on him either way, but damn that was harsh. And what was up with the “blink and you’ll miss it” match when Rusev was squashed? Is he done with WWE? I hope so. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Just be done with the Enzo and Cass rivalry. That’s all I got on that one.

Vince McMahon isn’t crazy in the strictest sense. He’s vindictive to be sure. Jinder Mahal going over on the indy darling Shinsuke Nakamura felt like Vince’s way of sticking it to the hardcore fans. I doubt this means Nakamura is done, but hey, the year isn’t over yet.

So glad I’m not one of ‘those people’. You know, the kind that boo the people who don’t deserve it. Come on people. Bayley doesn’t need to be hearing that.

Ok, let’s shift gears.

So happy that Stephanie has stayed the hell off TV since ‘Mania 33. If they had gone with Triple H vs. Angle it would’ve meant she would be back and those two have proven they’ll put themselves first.

I’m uncertain how I feel about Shane vs. KO given the former’s weak looking punches. Still, he’s shown he’ll put his ego to the side if it means his opponent looks good.

We should all be happy that the Tag Team scene across both brands has given us plenty to smile at. The Usos vs. New Day has just about run its course but they’ve given us two great matches thus far. Also, it’s not a complete reunion but Ambrose and Rollins have just gained the Raw Tag titles.

“Sierra Hotel India Echo Lima Delta, Shield.” Anyone else hoping they’ll hear this on a regular basis soon? Would they invoke the Freebird rule?

Speaking of Reigns, that was a surprise that he was the one who took the pin in the Fatal 4-Way main event. He’s out of the title picture for now. It also speaks well to Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman’s futures.

Will they eventually pull the trigger on the rematch from WrestleMania 31? Heyman should be the one who sparks it, taunting Reigns that he can’t defeat the Beast. The other potential cornerstone: Reigns and Lesnar are the only two to defeat the Undertaker at WrestleMania.

Braun is now next in line for a title shot. Funny, isn’t it? He’s a guy who shouldn’t be getting over in this day and age.

What’s happening with Miz and Joe? Who’s feuding with who, or is there something else going on? Are they pulling the trigger on Reigns vs. Cena? What’s happening here?

The next Raw PPV is No Mercy. The second No Mercy on 10/17/99 was the night that The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian re-defined both tag team wrestling and the ladder match. Hmm.

Don’t mess with the X.
