Rift's WWE RAW results/commentary for 5/1/17

- RAW opened with a segment involving the women's roster. Alexa Bliss came out to celebrate being the new champion. Alexa said the Queen is dead and she is a Goddess. Alexa stood on a pedestal and mocked Bayley. Alexa said Bayley's nephews had a real role model to look up to and Bayley knocked Alexa off the pedestal. Alexa gave a strong performance on the mic.

- Bayley/Sasha/Mickie/Dana vs. Alexa/Nia/Emma/Alicia. Alexa raked Bayley in the eyes and hit the DDT to pin Bayley. I found it interesting that Bayley got beat again. I'm curious to see how this plays out.

- Enzo and Cass came out for a promo and were attacked from behind by Anderson and Gallows.

- Enzo vs. Luke Gallows. Gallows picked up the victory with help from Karl Anderson. The match and segment felt like time filler and nothing else.

- Seth Rollins came out for an inspirational promo about getting his career back on track. Rollins said there is only one thing left to do and he wants Brock Lesnar. Finn Balor interrupted Rollins and said the line of people to face Lesnar starts with him. Dean Ambrose came out and said he wants to fight and the IC Title is currently the #1 title on RAW. The Miz came out and called Ambrose an embarrassment as IC champion. Ambrose called Kurt Angle on the cell phone. Angle apparently made Balor vs. Rollins vs. Miz in a #1 contender's match for the IC Title. At least there was a reference to Brock Lesnar and the Universal Title. Still, if I was Finn Balor's character, I would be demanding a title match and referencing the 30-day rule.

- Brian Kendrick/Noam Dar/Tony Nese vs. Rich Swann/Tozawa/Jack Gallagher. Gallagher pinned Kendrick to pick up the win for his team. This was a fun match.

- Shesaro came out to explain why they attacked the Hardys after the match at Payback. Sheamus said he never liked the fans but he believed that the Cesaro section would get them the tag team titles. Sheamus said it all changed at Wrestlemania when the Hardys showed up and stole their titles. Cesaro said the fans would rather be nostalgic than cheer for the current guys. Cesaro said the Hardys are nothing more than a novelty act. The Hardys came out to confront Shesaro but Shesaro retreated. This was an entertaining segment. Matt continues to tease the "Broken" gimmick and did do the "delete!" gesture before him and Jeff ran to the ring.

- Apollo Crews with Titus O'Neil vs. Heath Slater with Rhyno. Crews picked up the win with his sit-out powerbomb. Crews and O'Neil took a photo afterwards but Rhyno photobombed them. At least WWE is doing SOMETHING with Crews. I'd still prefer a heel turn, though.

- Kurt Angle came out to talk about the Roman Reigns/Braun Strowman situation. Angle said both guys were hurt but they are not done with each other. Angle noted that Reigns' ribs were hurt and Strowman tore his rotator cuff. Before Angle could finish, Bray Wyatt came out. Wyatt introduced himself to Angle and wanted to know if Angle would be by his side or stand in his way. Angle said he doesn't know what Wyatt has planned but RAW is his show. Wyatt said this is his world and that was the end of the segment. This was a good segment and promo by Wyatt.

- Austin Aries vs. TJP. Aries won with the Last Chancery but was attacked from behind by TJP after the match. TJP put the knee-bar on Aries. This was a very good match and I liked the post-match angle. With that being said, I still say TJP needs new music if he's going to be a heel.

- Backstage, Kurt Angle announced a tag team turmoil match for next week to determine The Hardys' next challengers.

- Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins vs. The Miz. Miz hung out on the outside while Balor and Rollins started things off. Eventually, Balor and Rollins had enough and went after Miz. Miz used Maryse as a shield against the other two. Rollins was on fire when Samoa Joe attacked Balor on the outside. Balor was about to win when Bray Wyatt attacked Balor. Miz took advantage and pinned Balor to win the title and become #1 contender for Dean Ambrose. This was an excellent main event that was PPV quality. I wasn't surprised by the interference from Joe but I didn't think Wyatt would interfere after Joe did. I thought that was a bit overkill and it also means we have to see Miz vs. Ambrose AGAIN.
