- In an interview with, AJ Styles commented on the rumors about him having a match with Shawn Michaels:

"I appreciate the fact that fans want to see big matches but some of them will never happen. I've tried to get Shawn Michaels to come into the ring one more time. They're just not going to happen. But, there are certain matches people hope to see and I hope I can deliver those matches."

"He [Michaels] said no. 'I'm not doing it.' But being in the ring with someone like Shawn Michaels or the Undertaker and being able to learn from those guys will be a blessing. I would love to be in the ring with Shawn Michaels. Similar size, similar styles and to be in the ring with someone like that and all the knowledge he has. It would be a classic."

While Styles didn't mention a specific event, Michaels was a rumored opponent for Styles at the 2017 Royal Rumble PPV in San Antonio, TX.
