In an update on Rey Mysterio and WWE, notes that Mysterio has wanted a part-time deal with WWE while the company has wanted Mysterio to return full-time. Mysterio’s Rumble appearance was a one-off unless the two sides are able to reach an agreement.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Mysterio explained why he won't return on a full-time basis:

“I don’t think I can go back [to a full-time schedule]. There’s just no way,” Mysterio said. “I can’t go back to that schedule. It would be common sense for them as well. That was my main motive for stepping away. I wanted to be able to have some free time. I’m still working really hard right now on the independent scene, but I control my schedule. I might get booked three days — Friday, Saturday, Sunday, come home Monday, and the following weekend I don’t have to work. That right there gives me a peaceful state of mind like you have no idea.”

In what could increase Mysterio’s chances of getting the kind of deal that he wants, the video of his Royal Rumble return on WWE’s YouTube channel already has over six million views. By comparison, WWE’s YouTube video of Ronda Rousey’s debut at the Royal Rumble has just over two million views.
