News on the changes made to NoDQ.com Submitted by Aaron Rift on 04/15/2017 at 06:36 PM
As you've noticed, I've made some changes to the NoDQ.com website. Here is a summary of the changes made:
The design - I believe in the concept of keeping things simple and also trying to keep up with the times. With more people using mobile devices than ever before, I wanted to simplify the design so it would be more mobile-friendly. For instance, I enlarged the text to make articles easier to read. On the main page, there is a top headlines image slideshow and comments section highlights (see below for more on that) at the bottom. I also changed the site logo for the first time in a decade. With the new logo, I can put any text I want under NoDQ whether it's .com, news, opinions, features, and so forth.
The content - In another effort to keep things simple and more organized, I've changed the amount of sections to three instead of five. WWE and indy news is now just the news section. The old columns section is now opinions which will also contain various video/audio podcasts in addition to written commentaries. I felt the visual section was outdated since social media embedding is such commonplace now in news and editorials. I brought back the features section which will be containing any material that is not news or opinion. This would include polls, creative works, and so forth. NoDQ's Year End Awards and Hall of Fame now have easy-access links at the top of each page.
Comments section - I've been hesitant about having a comments section for the longest time because of the concern for trolling. With that being said, I understand that visitors being able to comment is important when it comes to user engagement. I ask that visitors be respectful and use discretion when leaving comments. I've gotten several people on-board to moderate the new section in addition to myself. I plan on interacting with people as much as possible so feel free to leave comments, suggestions, and questions. The comments section will be located at the bottom of each article.
I hope you enjoy the changes. Thank you for your continued support of NoDQ.com as the site gets close to its 20th anniversary!
