Look on the bright side. At least it’s not “InjuryMania” all over again.

So far, we have six championship bouts, the Andre the Giant battle royal, and that one match everyone’s gonna hate. Let’s talk about that one, and a couple that aren’t locked in yet…

John Cena & Nikki Bella vs. The Miz and Maryse
Ok, let’s put aside the mic work that has been put in so far. It’s been stellar, so let’s leave it at that.

They could build this match up right, but the final product could very well be mediocre.

Maryse hasn’t wrestled in years. Her skills in the ring were never something to smile at. Nikki actually has taken great steps forward and proven the internet haters wrong. However, the women are not the biggest concern.

There’s a key reason why The Miz never reached the heights he did in 2011 for six years. His mic skills aren’t quite at Chris Jericho’s level but they’re still impressive. Unfortunately his in-ring skill isn’t enough to match.

John Cena still has his haters but their common complaints lost their merit long ago. Cena has made “Match of the Year” lists several times and he’s a main event in and of himself.

The Miz just isn’t on that rarified level.

The Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns
Man, I can see the internet reactions now. I thought they would’ve thrown trash at him last year and if he beats Undertaker, it will probably happen.

The word “stupid” isn’t one I would use to describe Vince McMahon. ‘Autocratic’ is another story.

In the past I thought he was being incredibly stubborn, but it’s obvious by now he’s just plain trying to piss the smarks off.

Honestly, the hate really needs to stop. It only started because of Daniel Bryan and that’s a partial reason why it continues to this day.

One common complaint is that Reigns didn’t “pay his dues” which is a statement Kurt Angle also made.

I’ve got some names for you: The Rock, Randy Orton, Charlotte Flair, Bray Wyatt, Alexa Bliss, Baron Corbin, Goldberg, and Brock Lesnar. You wanna know what they all have in common? They never spent any time on the indy scene before making their mark in WWE and those first four names got their foot in the door because of their daddies. Yet, the heat on them hasn’t been anywhere near as bad as Reigns.

It’s funny. Goldberg mentioned there were those in WCW who were pissed that he hadn’t “paid his dues” which led him to say he’d been “bleeding on the football field” before joining the company. Rock and Corbin played football too. What did Reigns do when he was still going by Joe Anoa’i? Played as a defensive tackle.

The concern isn’t the match quality. We’ve read the stories about ‘Taker’s health before but he keeps powering on through. Reigns isn’t the also-ran that the smarks make him out to be. Is AJ Styles just earning points by praising him? Nope. WWE needs him more than AJ needs them.

Speaking of…

AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon
Hey, Shane. Maybe you should ask John Cena for pointers on how to throw a punch in the ring. You’re a great bumper but your strikes look like shit.

I can understand wanting to keep Orton vs. Wyatt as a singles match. Why not? Look how deeply personal it’s become. They can’t put AJ in the battle royal for that would be just plain insulting.

AJ can carry anybody if he needs to. I believe in Shane too.

Shane is a McMahon but he’s closer to his father in that they’ll put their egos aside and their bodies on the line to get the job done. You’re not afraid that Shane is gonna win, are you?

Shaquille O’Neal vs. The Big Show
So, is this happening or not?

All this back-and-forth on the internet, is this all kayfabe or is Show the next participant in the Battle Royal? As if he needs the win. He didn’t need it the first time.

Show has said he’s all but out the door with his contract expiring in February 2018. The man is fine with his last ‘Mania being against Shaq.

No matter what’s been said about Paul Wight, he is in the Hall of Fame unofficially. I won’t care about the low points in the end. He’s given over 20 years to the business and his career should be honored.

That’s it, for now.

Don’t mess with the X.
