  NoDQ.com > Columns > The X-Factor: Smackdown's road to Orlando
Posted by Victor Mariscal on 02/22/2017 at 01:38 AM

The road to Orlando keeps raging on.

Iím trying my best to be optimistic about that mixed tag match they wanna do but itís not easy. The 2/21/17 Smackdown does give me a little hope.

Natalya throws Nikki into Maryse but itís the Fearless one who gets attacked. Itís fitting with her heel persona and her husband was being the rational one. That is, until later on when Cena eliminates him from the battle royal to decide who gets a main event slot in Orlando. Itís fitting that Miz then takes him out.

Maryse was never a good wrestler so thatís one gripe I have here. Cena and Miz fought for the WWE title at ĎMania XXVII and it failed as a main event. Those two just didnít gel that well. Cena has put on classic after classic over the years but Mr. Mizanin Ė while a solid performer Ė has not.

Yeah, I bet the haters still think Nikki Bella has to be carried through matches but thereís no question here. Sheís gonna be carrying Maryse.

Some positives to be had. The Miz has been doing some of his best work in the last year especially when heís talking. Cena is also one of the best talkers around so they could build this up right.

What will be the end result? Both John and Nikki are taking a break after ĎMania 33 and last year, Brie Bella won her last match and got a heroís sendoff. Tradition says Miz and Maryse should go over, but it also dictates that the heels should get whatís coming to them.

Weíll see.

Iím sure Iím not alone in thinking that Ortonís putting on a major ruse. Weíre getting a triple threat here.

Damn. Luke Harper actually in a world championship bout at WrestleMania? Dream come true right there.

I really wish AJ Styles was in the title picture. No issue with Shane McMahon but it feels like a demotion. Iím not so much worried about Shane putting him over but rather the match quality. So thankful he doesnít have his sisterís bitchy ego. Plus heís one of the best bumpers of all time.

AJ can do the 450 splash, shooting star press and the Phenomenal Forearm. Shane has the Coast to Coast, Leap of Faith, and has also done the Shooting star. It might be one big spotfest, but AJ is one of the greatest of all time. It could be amazing.

Unless, a certain Shinsuke Nakamura gets the call a little early.

Hey, look at the bright side. Itís not ďInjuryManiaĒ all over again.

Donít mess with the X.
