Posted by Andy Sullivan on 02/17/2017 at 08:37 PM

You know what I anticipate in wrestling? I always look forward to that next angle. What is the next storyline? How are they going to entertain(or try to entertain) us wrestling fans next? I always look forward to that post-Royal Rumble, pre-WrestleMania time. Who's going to challenge for the WWE Championship? The Universal Championship? What about the tag teams of both brans, the women, etc...

This week of Raw and Smackdown certainly piqued my interest of anticipation as of what's to come. Let's face it, Smackdown Live has obviously become the "A" show. Raw has to do something to keep up.

I know Raw has tabbed Samoa Joe as "The Destroyer". Funny, I thought that was Triple H's moniker. They've already had Joe wreck Roman Reigns, though nobody really won that match, thanks to Braun Stroman. Stroman v Reigns is one that I sorta figured would happen at WrestleMania instead of Fastlane. I thought Vince would have him beat Stroman at 'Mania. He may still. However, if they're going to do the Andre Battle Royal again, having Stroman win is obvious, maybe too obvious.

After the Jericho/Owens fall-out, I anticipate a Kevin Owens v Chris Jericho Universal Title match at WrestleMania. Unless, of course, Goldberg beats Owens for the title. That actually would make sense. Goldberg and Lesnar could be the Raw main event for the title, while Owens would probably beat Jericho to become a 2X U.S. Champion. That feud would rage on into the Summer.

I like the women's and tag title situations, on SmackDown anyway. I would've had Naomi win the title in her hometown instead of Elimination Chamber but I'm sure there's method to the madness. Dean Ambrose v Baron Corbin for the I-C title is a virtual lock for The Show of Shows, at least in some form. After the stunt they pulled off this past Tuesday where they made it look like Corbin electrocuted Ambrose, a WrestleMania match is almost certain.

American Alpha are a tag team juggernaut. Those guys are unbelievable! They really are reminiscent of the Steiner Brothers, one of my all-time favorite tag teams. I honestly don't know who they'll put Alpha against at Mania: they've already beaten every team on SmackDown. I say they lay down another open challenge for WrestleMania. A debuting or returning team shows up and there's your next feud for Alpha.

People often complain that big matches like Big Show v Stroman should be on pay-per-view and not Raw. Well, they have to stock Raw with something other than squash matches and bathroom break spots. Besides, this could lead to something bigger.

If they can ride this momentum through Fastlane and into WrestleMania, we could be in for some quality few months of programming.
