Sunday was the Royal Rumble. I figured that since Seth Rollins wasn't in the Rumble, that the program with Triple H would accelerate for WrestleMania. Once again, Vince/Paul outsmart me. Just as Seth Rollins was answering Triple H's demand to come to the ring, he was blindsided by a debuting Samoa Joe.

Joe thrashed him around the ringside area before tossing him in the ring and wrapping him in the coquina clutch. The twist to get him in the move was what re-injured Seth's knee. For all hoping this was storyline, Seth posted a pic on his Instagram of himself on a hospital bed.

Since this came from WWE's website, I thought immediately that this could be kayfabe. I soon learned otherwise. Then, as I was working out, I listened to Busted Open on Sirius XM and they talked about it. They brought up the "what now" factor. These guys actually think on my wavelength. Scary, huh?

The fact that Seth will be watching WrestleMania for the second year in a row is heartbreaking. I cannot imagine being in a profession, getting injured and missing out on the biggest event not one but two years in a row! As bad as I feel for Seth, the question is imminent: what happens for WrestleMania?

Obviously, a massive re-tool will need to take place. No Seth means no Seth v Joe, no Seth v Triple H. So, what happens? I have a few ideas off the top of my head.

Roman Reigns. Listen, I know there are fans who simply detest Reigns for a myriad of reasons. I think he is seen as Raw's John Cena: that they build a guy up so much only for their big dog to knock him down. Think about the storyline potential here, it's built in. Roman's former Shield brethren is taken out by Joe. Obviously, Roman will be looking for revenge. They could, in the process, re-ignite the Triple H/Roman Reigns feud that just kinda died off.

Joe vs Fin Balor at WrestleMania. I know, Balor hasn't been cleared to return yet. I'm betting Fin returns after WrestleMania. If I'm wrong, that's great. They could go crazy and turn Kevin Owens face. That would put Samoa Joe right into a Universal Championship match in his first big match. I don't think Joe/Owens is the way to go, at least just yet.

There aren't a lot of fan favorites on the Raw roster right now that are believable in the big role against Triple H. You can't very well break up Cass and Enzo and set up Cass v Triple H. Cass and Joe, now THAT might be a hidden gem. Big Show is out. He'll probably face Braun Stroman in some capacity. The Rock is still on the WWE.com Superstars page. I'm not saying he would. I'm not saying he wouldn't. Rock and Triple H have a long history. WWE and the Rock have a great relationship. Just putting that out there. Rock vs Triple H? Rock vs Joe? Hmm....

I'm sure you all join me in wishing Seth the best in recovery. I'll be very interested to see how this plays out. I know you will, too!
