NoDQ.com > Columns > Surprise Royal Rumble entrant

The road to Wrestlemania begins at the Royal Rumble and every year we sit and watch guessing who the next entrant will be as the clock ticks down.
Over the years surprise entrants have included a returning Diesel, the Godfather and more recently Bubba Ray Dudley.
Guys coming back from long lay offs and injuries to huge pops. My two personal favourites are Chris Jericho retuning as the number two entrant to the shock of Dolph Ziggler and one of the biggest pops I've ever heard from a pumped up crowd who literally went nuts. Also the returning Edge in 2010 when I sat there and his ring entrance music kicked in and I jumped out of my seat as he came back cleaned house and won it.
Or there are those making their debuts at the rumble including Aj Styles last year who also got one heck of a reaction as fans couldn't quite believe the phenomenal one was in a WWE ring.

The Internet goes crazy this time of year and social media goes wild with rumours of who could be in the rumble.
This year will be packed full of stars with Goldberg and Brock Lesnar competing. Which NXT stars will make the jump to the main roster?
The stars are aligned for the tenth entrant to be Tye Dillinger and he will get a great reaction from the crowd.
Samoa Joe will debut and I'm intrigued to see where he will feature in the Rumble with so many potential heavyweights already featuring.

For me this year the guy I would like to see come back would be the Olympic Gold medalist Kurt Angle. I can imagine the music kicking in and the crowd going nuts as he makes his way down towards the ring. A guy who can still have the best match on the card on any given night.
His matches with Lesnar especially the iron man match and the feud with HBK are worth checking out if you haven't seen them. I can picture him in the ring with Chad Gable and them tearing the house down with amazing mat work and putting on a show to chants of 'this is awesome '
To have him back on Smackdown feuding with guys like Styles, Orton and Ziggler would be worth watching and on a lighter schedule he could do great business for WWE. A future Hall of Famer who still has so much to give is what I would like to see at this year's Royal Rumble.
Who knows!! Not long to wait and I'm sure the Rumble will not disappoint as we start the road to Wrestlemania.
