NoDQ.com > Columns > Next breakout star to go to the main roster from NXT

After the draft mid way through the year I was a little concerned on how NXT would recover from loosing so much talent and where the show would go around storylines and main event prospects. Admittedly it took a couple of months to recover as it drifted along with average matches, random storylines and a division looking for leaders.

I still feel the women's division is lacking any real threat to Asuka. She has been so dominant and there is no real threat to her reign. Mickie James was brought in at the last takeover but nobody believed she was the one to dethrone Asuka.
I have been a huge fan of Peyton Royce since her debut. She has the look and skill to do something in that women's division and I'm glad she has been given a character and time to develop that character. I feel with time she could be the one to take the title.

As far as who I believe can make a big impact on the main roster it starts and stops with 'The Glorious One' Bobby Roode. I have followed his career since TNA and he always was one who stood out because he had the whole package and as part of Beer Money he was one half of the best tag teams in TNA history and then went onto solo success and became the longest running TNA world heavyweight champion in the company's history.

When he came to NXT I wanted to see a pissed off guy mad at the industry and wanting to prove a point. A guy who would stoop at nothing to get to the top and say it every week. What we got was the Glorious One and at first I was gutted with what he was given and didn't think it could work. I felt it was done before and very Ric Flair. I am the first to admit I was wrong. He has played the character so well and the introduction music is pure genius. You can imagine the surprise entrant at the Royal Rumble and Glorious kicks in! What a pop that would get. He has adapted to the WWE way of thinking and his match against Tye Dillinger at the last takeover was a classy match because it had the crowd invested and split down the middle. The deliberately slow pace they set was great and they emphasised every move with great detail and I really enjoyed the match.
The only thing he needs to get right is a new finisher. The modified DDT isn't impactful enough and he has tried a number of finishes with no real definitive answer. I don't see why he can't have a submission as a finishing move. It would go with his character and what better way to be Glorious than getting your opponent to tap out?

I don't think we will see Roode on the main roster until at least Summerslam as he will be the one to take the title from Nakamura and have a decent run. However you never know with Wrestlemania not too far away that would make for a Glorious debut.I can see him on either brand as he can feud with so many people. For me personally I would like to see him on RAW as his character is better suited and over the top and they can really go to town with his entrance and all that he brings. Roode versus Jericho? Yes please! Roode versus Owens? Definitely! This is why Roode will be my breakout star of 2017 and it will be glorious!
