The Elite View
September 17, 2013
By Wade Needham

Welcome wrestling fans to The Elite View! For those of you who are not familiar with the title of this editorial nor my name, let me give you some background information on myself. My name is Wade Needham and I used to write editorials (The Elite View) on a consistent basis from 2000-2005 on various wrestling websites, including this one here. I took a hiatus from writing to focus on podcasting, and eventually getting into the wrestling business. Since October 14, 2011 I have been the Play by Play Commentator for the Empire Wrestling Federation, a Southern California indy promotion ran by the legendary Jesse Hernandez. Now that I have been able to achieve a lot of goals and dreams, I’ve decided to start writing again and that brings us to this!

This editorial won’t be as long as my usual ones as it’s just mainly used to introduce myself, give some information and then jump into a quick topic. For this particular piece I’ve decided to choose the topic of this week’s RAW. I’ll stick to some of the stuff that I liked out of it, as it was a shorter list of what I disliked.

The first thing about this last week’s RAW that I enjoyed was the opening segment. Triple H calls out Scott Armstrong and confronted him about the quick count at Night of Champions, Armstrong was so scared for his job that he threw Daniel Bryan under the bus with the “they’re on to us!” line which was brilliant! Armstrong’s line was so detailed and brilliant in that position that for me it overshadowed the entire issue with Daniel Bryan. That simple single line put over so much of how the new “corporation” stable is a corrupt group that you’d do anything to keep your job.

I wasn’t lying when I said the list of things I enjoyed from RAW was shorter than what I disliked, because there was only one other thing from RAW that sticks out in my head. The segment with Stephanie McMahon and Dusty Rhodes. Dusty came out to talk to Stephanie about the firing of Cody Rhodes, and how Goldust was treated. Stephanie twisted things around and put Dusty in a tough spot to have to pick just ONE of his sons to get their job back, and he couldn’t do it. Finally the Shield came out, followed by Big Show, at which Stephanie told Dusty either suffer a beatdown from the Shield or get knocked out by Big Show.

See a common theme with what I liked from RAW? Both involved “The Corporation” and how evil they are to toy with families and employments just to get their own personal enjoyment. At the core of things in my opinion this angle with Triple H and Stephanie now in charge of the WWE, and how they’re making examples out of everybody, is one of the most interesting stories in pro wrestling in some time. It actually goes beyond just two people screwing with a roster, because this is the first time we’re seeing a worked-shoot transition of power in the company. I can only imagine where this will go at the end of the year and beyond. But one thing's for sure, I have confidence that Triple H and Stephanie will do well while heading the WWE into the next generation.

Thank you all for reading this week’s editorial, and I look forward to writing some more down the road for you all.
