Posted by Will Montgomery on 01/08/2013 at 10:18 AM

Welcome and Welcome back to Will's World! Short column coming at you. Today is gonna be all about last night's Raw. I won't be recapping the show, you can find a million other recaps out there. I'll just be offering my thoughts on certain parts of the show.

The show opened with Cena coming out and dropping names to get some cheers. As much as I'm a fan of Cena's, I rolled my eyes at this opening segment. He shouldn't be mentioning The Rock or Ryback to get some cheers. And it's not like everyone in attendance didn't already know The Great One was in the building.

This prompted Ziggler, AJ and Big E. Langston out on stage. The most noteworthy thing to happen here is Ziggler announcing he'd be in the rumble. Langston got the mic and stuttered out what sounded like a challenge to John, before the trio made their way ringside.

Cena ended up winning a match with Ziggler after MUCH interference from Langston and AJ. And all I could think was "Why?!" Cena didn't need a win, and Ziggler could have been made to look like a bigger threat. Instead, he was pinned clean in the middle of the ring. Not the best start to 2013 for the showoff.

WWE seems to be drawing a parallel between Randy Orton and Sheamus lately. With their encounters recently and both of them taking out 3MB, my money is on those two ending the rumble together.

And now a LOL moment for you. The lady was watching Raw with me, she's trying her damndest to get into it. And as we watch Sheamus plant his boot in Heath Slaters face, a lightbulb clicks on for her. "So...these guys are basically three morons that make the other wrestlers look good, right?" My girlfriend has successfully grasped the concept of a jobber. I was so proud.

The TLC match was...enh. Don't get me wrong, I love CM Punk and I like watching Ryback tear shit apart, but it didn't feel like anything new. Hellen Kellar would've known The Shield was going to interfere. The three man powerbomb to the table/steps combo was pretty cool, but I think they need to get something fresh going for everyone involved with this match or the crowd is gonna turn on them sooner rather than later.

As far as CM Punk and The Rock closing the show, I gotta give this one to Punk. Rocky might've gotten the last word, but Punk said a lot more. Last night we were reminded of what exactly a pipe bomb is. Punk truly believes he is the best in the world and that he's justified in what he says and does.

As far as The Rock goes? Well, as cool as it was to see him back, I've seen it all before. He'll get in the ring, say he's gonna kick some ass, say he's finally back, get the crowd to chant something, and hit a rock bottom. The Great one can only come back so many times before people stop caring. And I don't know if I'm the only one who noticed, but the crowd seemed much more mild than they should've been with The Rock in the ring.

So, let's hear it! Agree? Disagree? Send in your words and let your voice be heard. Coming at you later this week are my thoughts on The Shield and why I think they can bring a breath of fresh air to the product. Until then, keep kicking ass like I know you all do! This is Will Montgomery signing off, see you next time on Will's World!
