Ok, so it’s been a long while since I wrote of these. I suppose I’ve spoiled myself with just sitting down in front of a video camera and spewing my venom – or sometimes expressing my happiness – for the world to see. Well, I’ve always been a writer at heart and have found myself missing THE XTREME VIEW, so here goes nothing!

I know it’s become the “in-thing” to rag on iMPACT – and TNA as a whole – since the takeover by Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, but has anyone stopped for a second and watched WWE programming since January 4?

I mean, let’s take a look at RAW. With the exception of the angle between Vince McMahon and Bret Hart, nothing on that program has captured my attention. Even the once powerful DX have been reduced to a more sophomoric existence than they ever were. Also, as much as I want to see Shawn Michaels face the Undertaker, does it have to be displayed as obsession? Why do we need to see Shawn’s need to beat the Undertaker? ‘Taker’s never beaten HBK in one-on-one action, and, quite frankly, Michaels has nothing more to prove at WrestleMania or in any other facet of WWE.

Things aren’t too much better over on SmackDown, in all honesty. Is anyone else sick of the battles between Batista and Rey Mysterio? Better yet, is anyone sick of Mysterio STILL being showcased as a main event player? Since his return from suspension, Mysterio has either been the number one contender to the Undertaker’s championship or battled Batista to become such. How much more of Mysterio are they going to force down our throats. Is he gonna regain the gold at Elimination Chamber for Christ sakes? The only thing SmackDown has going for it, besides having ‘Taker as the top dog, is CM Punk and his Straight Edge Society, which I think is one of the best gimmicks I’ve seen in recent memory.

If there’s one thing that has made me happy about WWE in recent weeks, it’s the announcement by Vince McMahon that ECW is being replaced by a new show. This is something that should’ve been done the MINUTE Paul Heyman was sent home after the 2006 December to Dismember PPV. Ever since that day, the entity we knew as ECW has been dying a slow, agonizing death. The final nail in the coffin came when the final ECW Original – Tommy Dreamer – lost to the goofy Zack Ryder and ended his in-ring career. It is time, as McMahon said, for the next evolution of this industry.

Is it just me, or is Superstars the best of the 4 WWE shows? I mean it! There’s not a whole mess of ridiculous storylines, and we get the work horses from each brand giving their all each and every week. To me, we see the best of RAW, ECW (and whatever that brand becomes in a few weeks), and SmackDown on Thursday nights, and if I watch any of the shows, it’s Superstars. What do you guys think?

Ok, ok, on to TNA. Yes, there’s no doubt about it, TNA is slowly devolving into the worst of WCW. The young talents aren’t getting pushed like they should. Hogan and his clique are ruling the roost. Upper management seems to have no control over what is taking place. The ratings are ok, but not where they should be considering all the talent they have. It’s hard for me to say this considering my status as a Hulkamaniac, but his arrival in TNA has definitely done more harm than good. Hopefully things turn around in the not-too-distant future.
