NoDQ.com > Columns > To The Limit - Bobby Heenan in Today's WWE
Posted by Bobby Lendzinski on 11/06/2009 at 10:34 PM

In this article, I am going to take a look at former WWE, WCW, ECW, and TNA Managers and see how they could fit into today's WWE.

Let's start off with the one of the greatest managers ever: Bobby Heenan.

Bobby Heenan
- Call him "The Brain" or call him "The Weasel", Bobby was one of the greatest managers of all time. He managed the likes of Big John Studd, Paul Orndorff, King Kong Bundy, The Brain Busters, Harley Race, Haku, Rick Rude, Mr. Perfect, Andre the Giant, and several others. He was one of the sneakiest and funniest managers of all time.

- If he were a manager today, who could he successfully manage? Just about anybody, but there has to be a certain chemistry between a manager and a wrestler, so here is my list of people Heenan would have been perfect for:

1. Chris Masters. He is one of those wrestlers that needs a manager now! He is like today's Ravishing Rick Rude/Narcissist Lex Luger characters, but without the personality. His skills have gotten better and he needs guidance now.

2. Mark Henry. I see him as the equivilent of King Kong Bundy, only Henry has been more successful in the title department. Bundy definitely had the speaking skills that Henry has not been allowed to show yet, but I can imagine having Henry in Heenan's Family.

3. Randy Orton. What? A snake being managed by a Weasel. That doesn't sound like a successful pairing, but think about. The Heenan Family would need a World Champion in the fold. Orton without Legacy would be a great fit.

4. The Big Show. Maybe not, you say? Heenan definitely worked well with Studd and Andre, and The Big Show just may be a good combination of these two.

5. Dolph Ziggler. I would consider him the Mr. Perfect of the current day Heenan Family. He's a perfect fit for a Heenan pupil.

6. Beth Phoenix. I cannot recall Heenan ever managing a female wrestler, but if he did, he would Beth Phoenix would be another great edition for Heenan. Heenan had a collection of exotic wrestlers, and the Glamazon is definitely exotic. Don't mess with her.

- I will just throw one more thought in here. Picture Bobby Heenan's personality and Cryme Tyme's personality in a backstage segment, where Bobby claims that his tag team could beat Cryme Tyme any day. I think this would be a hilarious segment.
