Blowin' Smoke with Kemper Jones

In case you didn’t read my Smackdown column…

I couldn’t resist the urge to use my free time over the weekend to start my SvR 2010 storyline. I’m almost through the first month. I’m really excited about doing it and I can’t wait to get it finished so I can upload it for everyone else to try. I’m really trying to make it seem realistic. I feel that the dialogue and way the story is progressing really is something that you’d see on TV. I’m thinking maybe a week or two and I should be done.

Raw 11/02/09 – Afterthoughts

I have to make note that I'm writing this without the notes that I took during the show. I forgot them at home and I'm at work. If I miss anything or anything seems out of order I apologize.

I really don’t want to say much about the inclusion of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne on this weeks Raw except for the fact that they were really bad. I don’t know if Ozzy couldn’t remember lines and that’s why they needed to be whispered in his ear by the Superstars or if it was just done for comedic effect. Either way, it wasn’t funny. It was just terrible. How many times did Sharon have to say, “Really?” It was nothing more than really, really annoying. I've kind of had enough of the host/DX photo ops, as well.

The hosts set up a few matches including Cena/Show/Jericho, Kofi/Orton, and The Miz/Evan Bourne.

The Miz had the opportunity to clean the loss off his record last week by going up against Evan Bourne. Only, this time his US title was at stake. These two put on a decent match that saw Miz retain after rolling out of the way of Bourne’s finisher and hitting the Skull Crushing Finale.

There was also a Diva’s Battle Royal to determine the number one contender for the Diva’s championship. Eve was standing her ground when Jack Swagger came out leading to a distraction that saw her eliminated. After the Bella Twins and Gail Kim were tossed out it was down to Kelly Kelly and Alicia Fox. Fox pulled out the victory and will once again compete for the Diva’s Championship, only this time against Melina. I have to say that the removal of Mickie James from Raw leaves me with little reason to care about the women’s division on the show.

Sheamus squashed Jamie Noble again. This time was vicious though. He hit a powerbomb/backbreaker as well as a powerbomb onto the floor after the match. Noble was stretchered out of the arena. WWE obviously wants us to view Sheamus as a destroyer, but they’re going to have to put him in there with someone other than Jamie Noble. The matches are too one sided. I know that’s what a “destroyer” would do, but it would look better if he actually had to put up a little bit of a fight.

The Orton/Kofi match quickly became a 6-man tag match after Legacy made they’re way out to the ring. MVP and Mark Henry joined Kofi and picked up the win. This only cements the fact that we’ll see a traditional Survivor Series match involving these six plus two others at the PPV.

The Osbournes hosted a segment called “Raw’s Got Talent”. This was just a way to get the same old Santino/Chavo/Hornswoggle/Host of the Week interaction we’ve all come to expect by now. They even went one step further by involving Chris Masters and The Great Khali. As weird as Master’s “talent” was, it was pretty damn funny. Unfortunately, this skit also resulted in a few more “Really”s from Sharon, though she did get to slap Jillian Hall.

There was also a backstage skit involving Jericho and the hosts. Jericho talked about how he had been just like Ozzy by pandering to the people and such. I’m just surprised there was no reference to Jericho’s band, Fozzy during this.

Former boxing champion, Ricky Hatton was announced as next week’s guest host. I don’t follow boxing but from what I understand, he’s really well known in England and I’m sure WWE was looking for a host with local ties while doing the show overseas.

The main event triple threat match finished off the night. HBK & HHH joined Lawler and Cole at the announce table. Jericho and Big Show spent most of the match teaming up on Cena. Jericho tried to steal a pin after the Big Show had Cena down. This led to an exchange of words followed by Jericho slapping The Big Show. Of course, this just pissed him off and he threw Jericho out of the ring. Cena tried to use this opportunity to come back, but he fell when he put Show up for the Attitude Adjustment. Show went for the splash from the second rope and Cena moved out of the way. He sent Show out of the ring with a flying shoulderblock. Jericho back in for the rest of Cena’s routine until he got him on his shoulders for his finisher. Show hit the KO punch from the apron and Jericho fell on top of Cena for the three count.

After the match, Jericho and Show put Cena in a Walls of Jericho/Colossal Clutch combination. DX came into the ring only for HBK to take a KO punch and HHH took a Codebreaker. There are few things more enjoyable for me than seeing Raw go off the air with Cena, HBK, and HHH laid out at the hands of the Unified Tag Team Champions.
