The 2009 Survivor Series will fast approach and it seems like the WWE has finally, at the very least, turned a flashlight on to illuminate bright ideas.

Let’s begin with the John Cena promo to Legacy where he first noted that the WWE universe is tired of the same routines over and over (Randy Orton-Triple H-John Cena shuffle). Yes we are very tired. Now he made an excellent point that went beyond storyline and spoke to everyone in the locker room…. Legacy, like many, are NOT ready to be WWE or World Hvt. Champions. They just are not ready.

They do not have the “IT” factor that the top guys like the aforementioned three, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, Chris Jericho, Big Show, Batista, Rey Mysterio or CM Punk. That “IT” is being an interesting and engaging character, and being entertaining to watch in the ring.
Some of these guys just don’t engage the crowd that well. They aren’t the best in the ring, but worse yet, they don’t have any character. They are uninteresting and it begs the debate of wrestling versus segments for development. My case is The Miz earlier this year. He had a good series of promos, but ring-wise, he sucked and I’m assuming Cena and the WWE let him have it in a hard way to prove that he was not ready for something big like that. Currently, the Miz is doing great as the U.S. champion and hopefully this progress will continue and then hit the reset button on his feud with John Cena.
As much as we in the ‘net community moan, groan and complain and harp on why these guys are not pushed, let’s consider if pushing them is the right move in the first place.

To the fault of the WWE, they have been hesitant to pull the trigger on the fresh talent when it seemed the time was ripe for them to be pushed out there. To the fault of the WWE, they have rather played it safe to rotate the reliable stars in big time matches. That worked to their credit of keeping their main events reserved for big stars and not for workers that the audience is not terribly interested in seeing. However, like acknowledged in part this past Monday, it’s time for the new guys to stop assuming they deserve a shot and earn it. That brings me to a beacon of hope.

Kofi Kingston has a huge opportunity to break into the World title stage. This feud with Randy Orton can only go up. I credit Kofi for stepping up and to Orton for being the guy to take him there. What we don’t realize is that a push is a two-way street. The WWE must resist the urge to give up a potential big PPV match on TV, as they have done over this past year thus far, for the sake of snatching ratings. The great thing about the past eras of the WWF/WWE was that by watching three to four weeks of teasers, you were ready to see two guys finally duke it out on PPV, and even if the match wasn’t the best, you are glad they didn’t give it up on TV.
I also wonder if in this Kofi/Orton feud if it will be a singles or a Survivor Series match… I’m hoping on a singles match, but who knows.
Kofi will have to be interesting to watch and Orton will have to resist burying him in order to pull this off the right way. They dropped the ball with MVP, so let’s learn and move on.
However, this is a step in the right direction. I think that this will be a test of the next generation and if they can hang in a solo, big time feud. We’re rooting for you Kofi….don’t screw it up!

As far as the title pictures are concerned, I think the main guys....

***SPOILER ALERT***

(WWE title: Cena vs. HHH vs. HBK and World Hvt. Title: Taker vs. Show vs. Jericho) are in these matches and it was right thing to do.

***END SPOILERS***

They can’t afford to take a drastic chance (like giving it to DiBiase, Jr. and Rhodes) especially with Hulkamania drafted into TNA. I don’t know what the ramifications of that will be in the next few months, however, Hogan is an old-schooled veteran that knows about good wrestling product, that TNA lacks at the moment overall. Maybe or maybe not we’ll have franchise wars, but only time will tell and then history will sensationalize it.

I am hoping that the trend of pushing new feuds as we head into the road to WrestleMania XXVI, and having tryouts on main events will continue to boost the star power, but this will be a slow process. It may take a MVP, Miz, Morrison, Ziggler or Kofi another two or three more years to get to that top spot. Hell, it took Stone Cold 8+ years, Jeff Hardy 10+ years, and Triple H 8+ years as well. Patience and hope that the wrestlers can keep up a strong effort and the WWE creative and booking doesn’t do anything stupid.
