Back-to-Back "Phoning It Ins" for the next couple of weeks because the way pro wrestling is. This week I'll cover TNA's Sacrifice. Next week it will be WWE's Judgement Day. But let's get this column going with Sacrifice.
Once again I gotta thank TNA so being wonderfully brilliant for telling me what's going on the PPV. No wait scratchthat, I forgot that they are HORRIBLE at doing this. They didn't even list some details that happened on this week's IMAPCT! Which makes doing TNA PPVs really annoying to do.
Not much on the Sacrifice PPV Match Card because most of it is devoted to the "Deuces Wild" tournament that will crown the new TNA World Tag Team Champions. But there's one match on this PPV that has me really pissed.
And...away we go!
TNA World Heavyweight Title Match
"Triple Threat" Match
Samoa Joe defends the title vs Scott Steiner & Kurt Angle
Winner: Samoa Joe Reason: Won't be Angle because he just received an injury just recently at a match in Korea and is advised to stay away from the ring until he's healed. And since Joe just got the strap let him have a run with it. Added bonus is that maybe it'll have a feud with Steiner for awhile.
Terrordome Match
30 foot high Steel Cage Match (RD: Does it come with Tina Turner or the "Break a Deal, Spin The Wheel" wheel from "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome"?)
Winner will be the Number One Contender for the X-Division Title.
Participants: "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal, Curry Man, Kaz, Alex Shelley, Jimmy Rave, Chris Sabin, Johnny Devine, Shark Boy, Sonjay Dutt, & Consequences Creed.
Winner: Jay Lethal Reason: Truth be told they barely pushed this match period with the exception of some of the participants on Xplosion but they were in six-man tag matches. Only Jimmy Rave got the rub going into this match but he's not going to win. I chose Lethal because he last held the X-Division Title so a re-match with Petey Williams looks attractive on paper and I hope this COULD continue the POSSIBLE feud Lethal can have with Dutt.
The Deuces Wild Tournament
Four Tag Teams PLUS 4 Random Tag Teams from the "Egotistical Eight" compete. Winner of the tournament becomes the new TNA World Tag Team Champions.
Known Participants: Team 3D, LAX, AJ Styles & Super Eric, Christian Cage & Rhino, "Egotistical Eight Team" Sting & James Storm, "Egotistical Eight Team" Matt Morgan & Kip James.
Remaining Members of the "Egotistical Eight": Robert Roode, BG James, Booker T, Awesome Kong
Winner: LAX Reason: Before I go on the other "Egotistical Eight" teams will be Awesome Kong & BG James, and Booker T & Robert Roode. Kinda hard because TNA wasn't pushing any teams here just pushing the whole "Deuces Wild" tournament. In a way that's kind of a good thing. No one on the "Egotistical Eight" will win because of a built-in feud we have here. I was going to go with Awesome Kong & BG James because TNA is giving Kong the "Chyna Push". But after the events from last week's Impact with LAX asking for Hector Guerrero to be with them in their corner that smells like the right combination of events to make them the champions.
Makeover Battle Royal Match
TNA Knockouts will compete in a Battle Royal where the remaining two Knockouts in the ring will compete in a Ladder Match. Winner of the Ladder Match will earn a TNA Women's Title Match while the looser of the match will get her head shaved bald!
Participants: Gail Kim, ODB, Traci Brooks, Velvet Sky, Angelina Love, Jacqueline, "My Pal & Yours!" Christy Hemme, Roxxi Laveaux, Rhaka Khan, & Salinas.
Winner: NO COMMENT!!!!/NOT APPLICABLE!!! Reason: I've been a pro wrestling fan for a little bit over 20 years now. The match that got me into pro wrestling was an old WWF/E "Superstars" match that I saw THEN Intercontinental Champion Tito Santana defend his title versus some unknown jobber (jobber: A wrestler that looses on purpose. Definition comes from what the guy was doing, his job to make the other guy look good.). Since then I've seen some good and some bad moments in pro wrestling. It's a given with the business. Only one thing in my life that made me scream that this was the most stupidest thing that I've ever seen in my life that made me really angry. That one thing? David Arquette winning the WCW World Heavyweight Title. Then I heard about THIS MATCH!!!
Before I give my opinion let me give you a back story. Ever since TNA created the Women's Division and the Women's Title the Knockouts have been working like hell to make their division something to be proud of. TNA went to a point to hire some women wrestlers from SHIMMER and other organizations. While the other Knockouts with the company gave their heart & souls to this division. There's proof in this. Whenever the ratings breakdown comes out in your favorite pro werstling news source, and one of them better be NoDQ.com! The Knockouts matches have been proven as a ratings draw and 9 times out of 10 beating the Main Event of Impact at the time. All of the Knockouts on their Myspace Blogs, from Hemme to ODB, have been vocal about wanting this to work. Even some WWE talent are impressed with how the Knockouts are doing, Jillian Hall the latest in a most recent interview. There's even rumor that thanks to the hard work the Knockouts have been doing as of late that TNA might get another program on Spike TV dedicated to the Knockouts wrestling a-la GLOW or SHIMMER.
So what does TNA do to reward them? Let's shave one of them BALD!!!! Now in pro wrestling, and in the U.S.A generally speaking, a woman is mostly judged physically by her looks. Mostly for their bra size and their hair, a sad reality but it's true. No one on this roster deserves this! And if it does happen it's probably going to happen in one of the following; The Knockout will get her head shaved and end up looking stupid, or the Knockout will run like HELL making her look realy stupid dodging to get her head shaved which will make her credibility drop faster than a stone in water. And quoting someone that I know, TNA is booking stupid by making someone a 50% chance of going bald I mean really!
If I have to predict who's going to win, which I won't because this match is 1 BILLION ways of stupidity wrapped in a nice Taco Bell Chalupa Shell. When I heard of this match two names that popped in my head I KNEW won't go bald (maybe in a "Brazilian" that is. *rimshot* Ouch!) will be Gail Kim & ODB because of their pushes. And I was right because Kim won immunity this week. Personally speaking I don't want Christy Hemme to loose this match because hanging out with her for a bit thanks to her "HEMME" performances she is a great person to be with socially in a "friend" way and I don't want her heart broken by being a victim to this debacle, well that and she paid me one of the greatest compliments I've ever received from a woman. I figure it could be Velvet Sky or Angelina Love because their heels and Sky is currently Gregory Helms' girlfriend so TNA could get very shallow and get back at WWE by doing this, hey they did it with airing Robbie McAllister in the audience. OR go to Rhaka Khan for that spectacular screwup she did with the TNA trading cards. But quite honestly. You'll have to figure it out. Because I'm so mad at this right now I don't give a F-ING DAMN who wins and who looses!
Well there you go. I hope you enjoy watching this PPV. Not me. I'll be either drunk or watching DVDs because I rather have Ron Jeremy "go gay" on me than watch this PPV.
