Well. Once again this time it's time for another "Product Review" Of what? Let's see...
Product Review: "The Luchagors" by The Luchagors
Music and pro wrestling have gone side-by-side for years. As early and the WWF/E "Rock n'Roll Connection" when they used Cyndi Lauper to help promote them. I think we can go beyond that with the adequate movie "Body Slam" starring Dirk Benedict.
But in recent years it has been the wrestlers trying to get themselves into the music business. Such fine examples are: Chris Jericho's band "Fozzy" which has release a couple of CDs, Vampiro's band "Droch Fhoula", and of course the band that I've been shilling on and off for awhile now with "My Friend & Yours" Christy Hemme's Band "HEMME".
The band that I'm about to review has been reviewed by various music websites BUT NEVER on a pro wrestling website such as NoDQ.com. So I thought I take a stab at reviewing this band for you.
"The Luchagors" are led by singer Amy Dumas A.K.A. Lita. Now if you read the "Year In Review" I did earlier this year you would know that they released a CD. Well thanks to the wonders that are iTunes, I downloaded the CD to take a listen to.
The band is a punk band so if you don't like punk turn away now. Sounds like the band is heavily influenced by punk band legend "The Ramones". Guitars are like perfect. Lita tend to show that on some songs she is the second coming of Joan Jett and vocally that makes this CD awesome. But then there are some songs that probably are not a great choice for her that tends to make her look real weak.
You can tell just by listening how Lita is embracing the spirit of punk music. The song track "Miracle" may not be her best but it shows her passion.
"All There Is" is one of my favorite tracks out there. It doesn't sound very punk. More like one of those crappy love songs you expect a winner from "American Idol" to hear. There is some good guitar rhythms and rifts in this song. But when she starts getting all preachy I tend to turn my mind off right there.
Lita tries to go soft on "Already Gone". But honestly trying to do something like that is pretty hard. There are a few punk songs that I can remember that sounds awful when going soft. Song is somewhat mediocre but vocally it is a good attempt.
I have to admit there are two songs on this CD that I really do not like. "Janice" & "Goodbye". They sound really off to me. But that balances out some good tracks like "March Of The Luchagors" (which I consider the best track on the CD), the previously stated "All There Is", the ball-kicking "Bastard", and "Crazy World" which is the band's contribution to being dazed and confused in this world.
There are times quite honestly when you hear them play you think to yourselves that this isn't really a punk band due to the guitars and the way this band are handling their music. But this band does keep to the spirit that is punk with their music and their aggressive play.
And you are probably asking yourself if this is a good CD that I should buy? Well let me tell to you...
Overall: Sure there will be a tendency to have some bad songs along with some good songs on this CD. But this CD is balanced and I recommend not only buying it but put this in your MP3/CD Player if your going on a long trip. If your really cheap buy the "All There Is", "March Of The Luchagors", "Bastard", & "Crazy World" tracks on iTunes.
You can buy a copy of "The Luchagors" on CDBaby.com or through iTunes. And check out their Myspace Page (located right....HERE!!!) to buy the CD from them and to check out their upcoming Europe Tour.
Sorry for this column being a little bit delayed here. I was trying so hard to make this one seem really perfect. You'll get two from me this week because this weekend there will be a "Phoning It In" for TNA's Sacrifice. And let me tell you thanks to a certain match involving some TNA Knockouts I am quite literally angry about!
Until next time. I can ride my bike with no handlebars, no handlebars, no handlebars.
