Welp, tomorrow is the biggest wrestling event of the year, so it would only be right for me to make my predictions and speak my thoughts on tomorrow's show, so, in this column I'll begin doing that.
Today's Topic: Wrestlemania stuff
Alright. I'm going to start this column off by saying that I stick by my comments last week about Wrestlemania not being properly built right this year. It feels like any other pay-per-view to me, with the addition of celebrity appearances and the match with Big Show and "Money" Mayweather. In fact, it doesn't even hardly feel like a pay-per-view is coming up this weekend, and I'd totally forget about it being the "biggest" wrestling event of the year, if it wasn't for the 5 hundred commercials I see daily. I'm still unsure of what it is, but I just feel like it was built just as any normal pay-per-view would be, feud-wise. Though advertising wise, they are at least treating it like the biggest deal. But, I think it's just the lack of big matches on the card, which usually every Wrestlemania has at least a couple of big matches to look forward too. This year, the only thing I'm really looking forward to is Flair's last match, that's whats making this pay-per-view so important. After that I'm really looking forward to the Undertaker and Edge match, despite the fact that I know the outcome already, which brings me to another problem with this Wrestlemania. There doesn't seem to be many surprises, we all figure it's going to be Flair's last match, we know Undertaker isn't going to be losing his streak, "Money" Mayweather will probably win against Big Show, and so on. I'm sure it's still going to be awesome though, as it is every year, but this year, it's just too predictable, and the card is definitely lacking.
Anyway, with that, I'm going to get on with my predictions on the matches.
Bunnymania: Maria & Ashley VS Beth Phoenix & Melina
Prediction: Maria & Ashley
Thoughts: Bah, this match is useless, and Maria & Ashley are sure to get the win based on their playboy appearances. I'd like to see Beth destroy both of them though, but I don't see that happening. Plus, really, they should have made a title match, rather than whatever the crap this is. In my opinion it should have been Mickie James against Beth Phoenix for the title, now thats a match I'd like to see at Wrestlemania.
Belfast Brawl: JBL Vs Finlay
Prediction: Finlay
Thoughts: There isn't any way that Finlay isn't winning this one. He has to get revenge for what happened to Hornswoggle. Speaking of him, I figure he'll interfere and make his return in this match. I'm very interested in seeing this match though, I don't care too much for JBL, but he is a well known brawler, and as is Finlay, who I'm a fan of, and this is sure going to be a bloody stiff-fest, and I'm very interested in seeing it.
24-Man Battle Royal
Prediction: Uhh...Tommy Dreamer.
Thoughts: There is a little bit of confusion about this match, because they didn't make it clear whether it was going to air on the Pay-per-view or Online. Personally I think 4 hours would be enough time to fit this match in there, so I'm hoping to see it on the show. I'm really unsure of who would win this match, there doesn't seem like many credible contenders, so I'm going with hopefulness and choosing Dreamer, who I really would like to see win it. There's really no clue on this one.
ECW Championship: Chavo VS ???
Prediction: Chavo
Thoughts: I thought Chavo is going to pull out a win here, but probably keep the feud with whoever it is going. I'm not that much of a fan of Chavo, really. He doesn't entertain me and really lacks a lot of Charisma, so I'm not expecting too much out of this one, I just hope whoever wins has enough spare charisma to make up for Chavo's lack thereof.
Raw VS Smackdown: Batista VS Umaga
Prediction: Batista by DQ
Thoughts: I have a feeling this ending is going to have some sort of screwball ending, that'll keep the feud going. Truth is, I'd really like to see Umaga win it, but their known for loving to push Batista, so I doubt that'll happen. I'm going with some sort of DQ on this one.
Money in the Bank
Prediction: Mr. Kennedy...Kennedy!
Thoughts: This match is great every year, and I'm sure this match is no exception. I'd love to see any of the guys in it win it, but I'm mainly going for Kennedy, he seems to have gotten a lot of his steam back lately, I was really hating to see him have to lose the MITB case last year, so hopefully this year, he can win it and have the same thing happen. I wouldn't mind CM Punk or Jericho winning this either, or hell even Morrison. MVP as well, their all good choices, but I'm sticking with Kennedy.
Big Show VS Floyd Mayweather
Prediction: Mayweather
Thoughts: This match is too obvious, the guests never lose, and neither will Mayweather, I'd really love to see Big Show destroy him, but that just isn't going to happen. I'm thinking this match is going to feel really unorganized, thats jsut the feeling I get, and I can't see it being that great. It's going to be interesting, though, so we'll see what happens.
World Heavyweight Championship: Edge VS Undertaker
Prediction: Undertaker
Thoughts: It's too obvious Undertaker is winning. I'd love to see either of these guys win though, I'm a huge fan of both Undertaker and Edge, and I'm glad to see Edge have this long of a title reign. I'm sure this match is going to be a good one though, and it's one of the main ones I'm interested in seeing.
Ric Flair VS Shawn Michaels
Prediction: Shawn Michaels
Thoughts: It's pretty obvious this is probably going to be Flair's last match. He's had a wonderful career, but really, he should've been out of the ring by now and in a backstage role or as a manager. He's an awesome guy, and I'm sure this match is going to be great, they couldn't have picked a better opponent for him either. It's the one I can't wait for the most. I'm sure the end is going to be very emotional, too.
WWE Championship Triple Threat: Triple H VS John Cena VS Randy Orton
Prediction: Triple H
Thoughts: Either HHH or Cena could win here, and most likely one of them is going too. I'm going with HHH on this one, and I'm dreading it, too. I really wish Orton would be able to win, but it's Wrestlemania, and he lacks some charisma, and doesn't have enough heat, he's probably gone as the champion. But personally, I had enough Triple H from 02-05. And I had enough Cena from 05-07, I really wish we had a new contender in here, and this match isn't going to interest me much at all, it just feels like the same old, same old. That's one of the reasons I don't feel like this Wrestlemania is as important, the main event doesn't interest me much at all because it's something we've all seen before.
And that's my predictions, I know I may sound really negative, but truth is, I am pretty anxious to see it, because I know, with all of the negative things I've said, that they are still going to put on a hell of a show, as they do every year. Even with something lacking, they'll make due.
